-1 1/2 months after incident-

"Where is this cabin?" She murmured; moving closer to peer at his laptop screen.

He figures since it's Darlene and Quinn's first Christmas it has to be special. Not only that; they have spent the past couple of Christmases in California and it was time to do something different.

So they were going to a cabin up in the mountains. His friend owned it and had offered a week stay since he was using the other cabin. It would be an interesting experience.

"Colorado. We're gonna have to fly then take a van up there."

"That sounds fun. Have I been to Colorado before?"

"It was a long time ago. I can't wait till you see the inside of this place; you're going to love it."

"I can't see it now?"

"I think I'm a big fan of surprises so no...I want you to get the full effect."

"It's cold Daddy." Darlene muttered; holding onto his neck as they walked toward the van.

It was more snow than he'd ever seen or expected in his life; and he was sure it was surprising since his kids were certified California kids. He cuddled her closer to his chest and smirked.

"But look how pretty the snow is? See, feel it..." he crouched down to grab some in his fingers and show her. She touched it and then squealed a bit; wiggling her feet a little and making him laugh.

"Cold!"

"Okay, okay...." he touched her cheek with his cold fingers and she giggled.

"No daddy! No!" She pushed against him and giggled.

"Okay, okay, no more cold fingers. C'mon let's get in the van."

Everyone piled in along with the bags and what not before they started the serious journey farther up into the mountains. It took about an hour or so to get up there with the one way roads and though he was a bit nervous to be so high up; he was excited to see what everyone thinks.

They pull up at about noon; and everyone starts getting out before the car even comes to a stop.

"Wait, wait can the car stop?"

"Look at this place! It's beautiful." He heard someone enthuse as everyone else got out. He was the last person to get out; going to Morgan's side as she stared at it all.

"What do you think?"

"It's beautiful, and look at the snow...you know when you said Cabin I thought you meant something small and intimate." She smiled up at him.

"It is a cabin...just has more to it then normal cabins that's all. You'll like the inside even more."

It had seven bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms,a kitchen, a loft, a great room, and a library. Of course everyone spread out for the first couple of minutes to explore everything. He was happy to see his family so excited. He wanted everyone to relax and have some fun for once.

He found his way to the kids room on the second floor and found his wife along with Zeek and Knox.

"I'm jealous of your bed; it looks so fun."

"It is, I get the big bed like Knox!" Zeek enthused and she giggled.

"I think you and Knox can tell stories from up here you know? We could make special little phones so you can talk."
