Colin
"Now be careful moving because your neck is still very sore." Sammie and him watched quietly from the corner as the doctor took her brace off.
He touched a few places and she flinched before he pulled away. This is the first time she's sat up since she was admitted.
"I'll give you this clipboard just in case you want to tell me something. Your neck is still sore but we're going to try talking a little okay?" She gives a half nod before furrowing her eyebrows.
"Can you say my name is Morgan?" She pouts a bit before opening her mouth to speak...
*********
Morgan
The doctor is nice. I don't understand exactly what is going on but he's very understanding.
What I don't understand is the man and woman that have been sitting in the corner since earlier this morning. They're a little odd and it's kind of weird.
Trying to talk is hard and I don't know how to start.
"Just act like you're about to say something. Nice and slow."
"M-my n-name is Mor-gan?" The doctor smiles.
I think I sound like I've been smoking six packs of cigarettes a day.
"Good job. Say I am Morgan from Maryland."
It burns a little but I try again. "I a-am Mor-gan froooom Mary-land."
"Good job. Some of the swelling has gone down but still no more talking till it goes down more. If you have to say something you write on the board okay?" She nods.
She scribbles on the clipboard quickly before showing it to him.
Who are they?
He gestures to one and beckons them over. She stares at the man for a moment. He's tall and handsome. Curly hair and a scruffy beard lining his face; brown eyes sort of enticing in a way.
"Morgan this is Colin."
Colin. She's never met a Colin before.
"Morgan; Colin is your husband." Her eyes widen and she stares at the doctor like he's crazy.
She isn't married. She never has been. She doesn't even have a boyfriend.
"Joking?"
"No Morgan, this is not a joke. You and Colin have been married for three years.
This makes no sense. She'd remember if she had a husband. He's cute but they shouldn't get ahead of themselves.
"No sense."
"Maybe if we leave you alone he can explain it better. Sammantha would you join me for coffee?" She watches as they walk out and she's left with Colin.
He gives her a small smile but she's not sure how she feels about all of this.
"I know this must probably be really crazy for you. You just woke up a few days ago and now you're hearing that you're married." He pauses; looking down to stare at his hands before looking back to her.
