She couldn't bear to see Knox leave. She knew that if she was there he would be upset and it would hurt him more. So, she stayed holled up in the room for the morning.

She could, however, see when the car pulled up and left down the path. She wondered idly if he could feel how he was taking half her heart with him. Maybe it was better not to think about it.

Maybe.

one hour later-

Colin

The door rings and he's close to thinking about ripping it off its hinges. Everyone comes in and takes things anyway: why not make it easier?

He's careful not to wake Darlene who has made her spot next to him in his bed. He gets up and moves slowly downstairs, his body heavy with exhaustion and what could only be classified as depression. He's been careful because he can't lose Darlene. That'll be the last straw for him.

He sees a big group of people crowding around the door. Everyone is yelling and more but he's confused.

"What's going on?" Everyone turned and stared at him; going quiet. The group split and he stared at his mother.

He's disheveled, scared and healthy. That's the only words he can use at the moment to describe him.

"Knox?"

"Daddy!" It feels like he catapults put of his mother's arms and into his own; his arms holding tight.

"I missed you so much...God I didn't know where you were. You scared me..."

"I missed you."

"Where have you been? What happened?"

"I don't know daddy, I just woke up somewhere else."

"You're not leaving again until college okay?" He leaned back and smiled at him. He kissed his hair.

"I'm so glad you're back."

She stared at the art around them as the meeting went on. Of course she wasn't listening but she didn't think she'd be spending most of her day watching people talk.

She was never one for meetings and this just proved it. She couldn't go anywhere because she was a prisoner. In the literal and metaphorical sense. Liam rarely let her out of his sight for fear that she would leave; and she never had a chance to be alone.

Not that she would escape because she didn't want him to retaliate and hurt people. She had no choice in the matter. All she wanted to do was just tell someone she was...okay.

"I'm going to check out my office." She leaned over to mumble to Liam before excusing herself. She was accompanied by Cecil: her new and personal babysitter/bodyguard.

Her office was big, it looked more like a museum. But then again, it was only a little bigger than her office at her real home.
