Laehal ran as fast as he could, leaving Shayel in the dust. He wasn't sure where Mother Nature wanted to lead him.

He suddenly ran into Teriaj, who must have stopped running a while ago. Laehal realized they were in the forest.

They must have went around the school and gone past the houses on the border of town.

In front of him was a spring.

"It's Mother Nature's Spring," said Teriaj. "This is where I was given my physical form." He paused for a moment. "I remember the feeling of the icy water on my skin—the feeling was...just wow. I could feel. I'd never felt before.

"And then I heard the sounds; the trickling of the water, the wind in the leaves, the sounds of Mother Nature. And I could see the water running around me, and the sky, the clouds, trees, rocks, frogs, flies. It was an amazing feeling.

"And when I saw my refection—saw me, I was just amazed. I had form. I was alive. Breathing." Suddenly he frowned. "And once I complete my mission here, once I'm no longer needed, I'll just be part of Mother Nature's body again. It's awful being in a place and having people who you aren't supposed to interact with walk by, see right through you. People you weren't created to interact with. Knowing that you're not supposed to be on Earth for a long time like they are."

"What?" Laehal asked. He was getting confused.

"I'm only here to aid your quest. Once you are on the path and nothing will stand in your way, I will disappear back to my old form."

"Oh. That sucks."

"Yes."

Laehal scratched his neck.

"So, about that 'Web of Fate...'"

This is my favourite part! Mother Nature said. She sounded very excited to Laehal. Take a seat, Laehal.

Laehal sat down on the grass, while Teriaj stood beside him.

"You can hear her better when you close your eyes," he whispered to Laehal, who then shut his eyes.

The Web of Fate is what decides how a life is made and what happens during the soul's life. The Spinners—which is what you are, by the way—Spin the souls. The Writers Write the path of the souls. The Weavers place the souls and their paths on the Web, and the Cutters end the souls lives at the appropriate time. The Watchers are what you call guardian angels. They are assigned to a soul and make sure the souls follow the path made by the Writers. It would be dangerous if a soul was ended before it was supposed to be Cut, or strays from their path.

Spinners have an important job. They must make enough souls to replace the ones that are Cut from the Web. There are 5 Spinners in all. Each Spinner owns a Spindle and Thread for Spinning the souls. Once the souls are Spun, the Spinners hand the souls to the Writers, who Write the souls into a path.

A soul with a path looks like a glowing string, which the Weavers Weave into the Web. The Web looks like a giant blanket made out of glowing strings.

The Watchers must be Spun into a soul too. Once a Watcher has been assigned, they will be brought to the Spinners, who take their soul and Spin it, then pass the soul to the Writers, who Link the Watchers' souls to their assigned soul's path. A Watcher's soul and path glows a bright gold colour. The Weavers then attach the Watcher's string to their assigned soul's string, and Weave them into the Web.

The Cutters Cut the strings that are Fading. Once the souls' glow dims, they must be cut. They must sever the tie between the soul and the Watcher, and remove the Watcher's soul from the Web without Cutting their string. The Cutters then place the Watchers' string on their comatose body, and let their soul slowly set back into the body.

These jobs are extremely important. If any of them were to abandon their posts, it would lead to destruction.

"Like how you said Shayel was dangerous to the Web of Fate. How do you know?" questioned Laehal.

I can sense danger in her. She had been untruthful to the world when your parents' strings were cut. She cannot be trusted. And if you choose poorly, we will surely fail.

"But Mother Nature, she has helped me ever since she has been around! She was the one to raise me when my parents died! I've trusted her all my life!"

Then you choose poorly. Let the future be thus, then, and let the world fall.

"The world won't fall, Mother Nature. You must give him time," said Teriaj.

I can only give him that which can be spared. At this moment she is still a threat to the universe.

"I'll work on it, okay?" Laehal said. "I'll stay away from her so I can learn how to be a Spinner. I can tell it's important to you."

Thank you, Laehal. Now, we must go to the Fate's Palace.

"Take my hand," said Teriaj.

Laehal took his hand and they disappeared.
