Laehal meandered to his first class while mumbling to himself. He just didn't understand why people bullied. Was it because they felt so insecure that they needed to "show their toughness"? Or was it something else? Laehal did not know.

The late bell rang and Laehal was just walking through the door.

"Master Kindley, tardy yet again," Ms. T's sophisticated voice floated over to Laehal even through she was facing the blackboard. "I thought you'd learn from your mistakes, not keep doing them."

"I'm sorry, Ms. T. It won't happen again."

Laughter swelled through the room. Even Ms. T snorted.

"I know better than to take you up on a promise, Master Kindley. Now take your seat and we can begin the lesson."

Laehal's eyes grazed the room. One seat. And none other than Deeliah was sitting in the seat across. For a second Laehal swelled with gladness. But as soon as he took his seat, Deeliah shot him a glare and turned her body away from him. The gladness fell into gloom.

Why didn't Deeliah like him? Laehal had thought that he was being nice to her. Apparently there's more to girls than just being nice to them.

After the class ended, Laehal tried to catch up with the little nerd again. This time, Deeliah didn't stop. Laehal's shoulders slumped. Why didn't she like him? More over, why did she hate him? He had only tried to save her from going to detention. Had she wanted to go to detention? Laehal did not know.

The rest of the school day before lunch Laehal spent thinking. He thought about Deeliah and tried to answer his own questions. And then he had an idea.

"This will certainly work...," he mumbled to himself. "Nothing can go wrong. I'll have her liking me in a heartbeat."

And so he began to form a grande plan.
