Hey guys, how y'all doing?
Are you enjoying the story?
It'll be ending soon (I'm really excited about that and you should too because it means that after I finish Whispers and do alllllll the editing I need to, I can focus more on Moody, and another story that I've been working on behind your back *cough cough*)
Omg plot twists, am I right?
...anywhoop.
Last time we were with Laehal, Teriaj, and Mother Nature when they came back home to Orton. Teriaj also talked a bit about a comrade of his...another Watcher, whose soul/project had crossed Laehal's path before, and could get Shayel out of the picture.
Hmmm... I wonder who it is... 😉
This time we're with Sever, Pomrey, Saia, and a few other people on their trip to Saskatchewan. Some big decisions will be made...
XX
"Hey Sever," Pomrey said as a greeting to Sever as he got out of his car. "You're late."
"I know," he answered shortly. "Good news though--"
"Saia told me. It's a good thing she can't come with us. Otherwise she would have found out."
Sever nodded. "My thoughts exactly."
"All right gang, time to head out. We need to take two vehicles. Sever and I will drive. Pomrey, Tressle, pick who you're going with. We'll meet the others in Saskatchewan. Let's get a move on."
Sever saw Pomrey whisper something to Tressle, who nodded and headed towards Saia's Chevy. Pomrey walked towards Sever, hands in her pockets.
"So I'll be riding with you."
"Okay."
"I just have to get my snacks; I get hungry on trips like these."
Sever watched as Pomrey disappeared into Saia's house. He wondered why--or if--she had wanted to ride with him instead of Saia.
Sever climbed back into his car, then buckled up just as Pomrey opened the passenger door and climbed in.
"Alright, let's be off! Kick up the dust, Sever!"
He chuckled, then started onto the road, following behind Saia and Tressle.
"So, how are you doing?" Pomrey asked as she dug around in a bag.
"Good. I mean—I guess."
"What's been up lately?"
"Just...this Shayel thing. You know, I was thinking that maybe I should just turn us both in. Laehal would be safe from her, and I'd be in jail for what I did. I'd feel much better about the situation."
"Like it's what you deserve?"
Sever nodded.
"Hmmm."
"Because I deserve it. I do. I broke the rules, and that's what should happen when you break the rules. You shouldn't be able to get away with it, like I did. Like Shayel did." Sever was gripping the steering wheel tightly in his hands. "Do you think I'll have to go to court?"
"Whoa, you're actually thinking of turning yourself in?"
"I want to do it. Once I do I won't feel guilty anymore. I belong in jail, Pomrey. And I don't know why it took me so long to understand that."
"I don't know, Sever. Are you sure Shayel will be put in a mental institute? Maybe we should find Laehal first. He can testify against her--he probably has bruises as proof--"
"Bruises?"
"You've seen Shayel's attitude. Laehal is becoming more independent, he's at the age of teenage rebellion. She's bound to lose her temper if he refuses to listen to her."
"You think she abuses him?"
"It's a possibility."
It was in that moment that Sever realized that he had done something terrible.
"I'm going to do it. I'm going to turn us both in. I mean, I'll need to find the forged birth certificate and such, but I'm going to do it."

Sorry for the short chapter >.<
I didn't want to go off on a tangent.
But hey, Sever has officially decided to turn both Shayel and himself into the police...and go to court to prove that they should both be behind bars--whether it's jail or a mental institute.
