Hey guys!!

Who's ready for this chapter?

:D

Please note that the origin story has names of Greek Gods and Goddesses (and Greek words made into names), but might not follow their stories exactly. The origin story is purely for entertainment purposes.

Okay, on with the chapter!

As soon as Laehal entered the Origin room, he was amazed by the murals on the wall. On one wall was a picture of a great big blanket, painted with individual strings, and a person weaving in more. On the left of the doorway there was a painting of two people at a loom, and one person, who seemed to be glowing, laying on a table with his eyes closed. On the right wall there was a picture of a person with scissors cutting a string and beside him a person with a glowing string on his body.

"Welcome to the Origin room," said Teriaj. "On the left we have a Watcher, laying in a Coma of Dormancy, signalling that his soul has been sent to Earth. Beside him, we have a Spinner Spinning a soul, and a Writer Writing the soul's path. See how the Spinners and Writers work together at the loom?

"And on the wall across from us, we have the Web of Fate. See how it was painted in a very detailed manner? That is to show each soul's string as part of the Web. We also see a Weaver, placing the strings on the Web.

"And on the right we have a Cutter Cutting a string from the Web of Fate and a Watcher going through the procedure of Awakening. The string on his chest will slowly sink into his body, and then he will wake up."

Laehal was in awe. He didn't know what to say.

Teriaj grinned at him. "Amazing, right?"

Laehal nodded.

"And now, for the stories. Take a seat, Laehal." Teriaj sat on the floor facing the wall with the mural of the Web, and Laehal sat beside him.

"A long time ago, there was a woman. Her name was Gaia. She was lonely, and so she made a man to be her companion, and she created the Earth. She wanted to put people on Earth, and so she and her husband bore five children: Klóstis (Spinner) and Syngraféas (Writer), who were twins, Yfantís (Weaver), Paratiritís (Watcher), and Kóptis (Cutter). She gave each of these children a job: Klóstis would spin souls, Syngraféas would Write those souls' paths, Yfantís would weave the souls into a great Web, Paratiritís would Watch over the souls to make sure their strings didn't tangle, and Kóptis would cut the strings from the great Web once their lives were finished.

"Gaia's husband and the five children's father wanted to have his own kin go down to Earth, so he seduced Paratiritís and had many children with her, which he forced the other children to put down to Earth. When Gaia found out that he had taken advantage of their daughter, she convinced him to be put down to Earth, where he was killed. This is why we do not know his name.

"Eventually, Paratiritís got overwhelmed with having to watch over so many souls, and Gaia agreed to keep sending Paratiritís' children to Earth, where they watched over a soul until it was time for that soul to be Cut.

"Kóptis eventually grew sad, for she had to end so many souls' lives, and she had begun to care for the humans that her sister and brother created. Gaia told her that Cutting the souls was necessary, but Kóptis would not listen. She hid her scissors and would not tell anyone where they were hidden. Until one day when the Web had begun to grow too big.

"Gaia, in a panicked state, took a piece of sharp rock and cut off an entire third of the Web. Kóptis freaked out and tried to get Yfantís to Weave the piece back, but she could not do it. Kóptis then brought the strings to Paratiritís, to send the souls down to Earth. Paratiritís agreed, but only if those souls could bear a replacement for each of the five children of Gaia every one hundred years. Kóptis agreed, and Paratiritís took a drop of blood from each of the children of Gaia and fused them with a single string each.

"'This ancestry shall be of Klóstis, and every one hundred years, a child will be born to replace Klóstis. This child's string will be golden, like a God's would,' Paratiritís declared as she held up a single red-stained string from the pile. She then removed a golden string from one of her children and replaced it with the string holding Klóstis' blood. 'Klóstis, this child of mine is now a child of yours. He shall be sent to Earth to carry on your bloodline, until your time comes and you must be replaced.' Paratiritís said the same to each of the children, and herself, and then had Yfantís Weave the blood-stained strings into the Web.

"The red strings were watched carefully, and for one hundred years Klóstis would Spin a red string to be an heir of the first. Kóptis would Cut the strings from the Web once they grew faint, until after one hundred years it was finally time for the five children of Gaia to be replaced.

"Just like the children of Paratiritís were removed from the Web and not Cut, so were the red strings which were to replace the Guild. The heirs were brought up from Earth and given instructions on how to take over their ancestors' jobs, then the Guild disappeared from their midst.

"Gaia never had troubles from Kóptis' heirs, because she had told them stories of what had happened when Kóptis had betrayed her duties.

"Klóstis' heirs eventually became of six, and they were all taken up, as were Syngraféas' heirs.

"This cycle went on for millennia, and still continues on today. You, Laehal, are an heir of Klóstis."
