MORE
CHAPTERS

Omg right???

I only have to write 6 more chapters, and then Whispers will be finished...

And then I can edit it!

But anywhoop.

Last time we were with Laehal and Teriaj, plus the unexpected visit from Pomrey, who is also a Watcher, bringing news that Sever would be going to court.

This time, a few weeks later, we're back (and super sized) with Sever...but there will be a few other people who we have met, including Laehal and Teriaj.

It's court time.

Sever rung his hands as he looked at the court building. He was nervous. But he knew he was doing the right thing. He hadn't waited to turn them in, in fact as soon as the group got home he dropped Pomrey off at her house and went straight to the police house. He had shown the officers there the copies he had of the forged documents, and had also told them about Shayel having copies. He knew Shayel would probably freak out once the officers arrived to question her, but he was pretty sure she wouldn't think it was him.

Shayel had been absolutely outraged when she had found out. She had been confronted at her house--during a break down caused by Laehal's absence, in which she was throwing things around and destroying the place--by two police officers, who, upon forcefully opening the door, had been surprised by the giant mess that Shayel was making. And this mess, of course, would not help her case.

"Miss Lang?" one of the police officers had said.

She had composed herself mid scream, and had walked to the door to speak with the officers.

"Yes?" she recalled saying.

She also remembered them saying something about forged documents--and realized she had been caught.

The look on her face would definitely not help her case. But of course, she couldn't deny it, they already knew. They had copies. She could see them, in one of the officer's hands.

She remembered sputtering, as she didn't know what to say. She didn't want to go to court--she could lose Laehal--but of course, hadn't she already?--but she didn't want to say anything denying that she had anything to do with the papers.

"We're going to have to put you under arrest," the other had said, "just so you can't do anything else," he had added, as he saw the look of horror, terror, worry, and anger in her eyes. "Can't have you fleeing. The boy"--Shayel had noticed he hadn't called him her son--"will stay here? Or does he have somewhere else he can stay?"

She had gritted her teeth. "He...will stay here."

"Ah. And I assume he is home at the moment?"

Shayel's lip had twitched. "He's...been out. For a while."

"Then I suppose we will have to check back with him, because he'll be wondering where you are."

"He's not going to be back!" she had screamed. "He ran from home!"

She had seen one of the officers write something down.

"How long has he been away?"

"Since Saturday."

"So nearly five days? That's quite a while. And have you set up missing person posters? I haven't seen any. Have you gone looking?"

"No posters, but I was--" She had shut her mouth then, and glared at no one in particular. "The maker of the papers was helping me find him. They had a lead in Saskatchewan. That's all I know. So go ahead and take me."

She gritted her teeth at the thought. She hadn't been able to run, but of course not. She could have fled.

And now here she was, at the courthouse. It looked down at her with disdain. As if it was already judging her.

She glared at the building's exterior. It was awful bland looking. She could already guess what it looked like on the inside.

Meanwhile, Laehal had arrived with Teriaj and Pomrey. He was extremely nervous, and he was worried about what would happen afterwards. Would he be sent to live with foster parents? Would he need to go to an adoption home?

Teriaj and Pomrey had tried to reassure him between the day he had heard of the trial and the day of the trial. If he needed to be put up for adoption, Pomrey had agreed to take him. They had all agreed that this was the best choice for him to fully complete his destiny. Living with a Watcher, he wouldbe able to train to be a good Spinner without being looked at funny by mortal adults.

He would be able to express things fully without having to hide things, which was what he needed. Previously he had had to keep many things from Shayel, because if he had talked to her about them she would have exploded.

And she had probably exploded when she heard of the trial.

Laehal looked around nervously, searching for the woman who had called him her son, and who had beaten him for no particular reason. A breeze stroked his cheek reassuringly.

She cannot harm you here, nor will she be able to any longer if the trial goes well.

Laehal nodded, then entered the courthouse with Teriaj and Pomrey.
