Omg. It's been a LONG time since I've written a chapter. Sorry 'bout that. I just didn't know where to start. But now I finally have motivation! Yay! Sooo...
Last time we were in the Fate's Palace, where Laehal made his first thread!
This time we'll be following Sever after he had seen the video. Will Shayel take the bait?
On with the chapter!!
XX
Sever was nervous as he got into his car, video tape in a bag beside him in the passenger seat. He wasn't sure if Shayel would buy it.
Though, he didn't want to doubt Saia's work. Saia always met the standards. He never let Sever down. In fact, Saia had never let anyone down—except maybe his family, as he was a counterfeiter.
Sever drove slowly to his house, even though Shayel's threat was burning through his skull. He knew she shouldn't be the boss of him, but he was still worried.
Mostly because if she went to someone else, they might actually be able to find Laehal.
He took a deep breath, then entered his tin house. He strolled over to the phone, took his time dialling, and waited for Shayel to pick up.
It didn't take long.
"Hello?" Shayel asked.
"I have the footage. Come pick it up."
"It had better help." Then she hung up.
Sever gritted his teeth. Rude much?
He took the video tape, then sat on his bed and held it in his hand, staring at it while he waited for Shayel to arrive. It wouldn't take too long, as she would probably drive as fast as possible.
The only thing Sever could think was if Shayel would take the bait. Was the footage believable?
When the door opened he was shocked onto his feet.
"Show me it."
Impatient much?
"Over here." Sever walked over to a small--old--television, and popped the video tape into it, then gestured to the ground for her to sit. She decided to stay standing.
The video started up, and went exactly as it had at Saia's.
Sever noticed he was paying more attention to Shayel than the video. Every once in awhile she would show interest in the video, her eyes glowing, her posture changing, making small hm's and huh's. But she never asked any questions, and when the film stopped she continued to stand there, thinking.
Sever cleared his throat.
"Sooo...does it help you any?"
"Do you have people"--at this sentence Sever's heart pounded hard--"searching for him?"
"We're working on it. Got to collect people who are up for the job before we can get anywhere."
"You had better work faster then, hm? I can't have my son living on his own like this, now can I?"
Sever wanted to burst out at her and say 'He is not your son!' but he kept in it, because it was, after all, he who had given her custody--no matter how illegal and forged it was--of Laehal.
"I'm sure he'll be fine. We're working as fast as we can. You just have to be patient."
Though Shayel had pretty hair and eyes, she was a pain in Sever's rear end.
"Any questions?"
"No," she said, as she smiled faintly, "I'm good. I'll be going now. Contact me when you're ready to search for him. I want to come with you."
Shayel took her leave, then, and Sever stood in front of the tv with surprise on his face. She would be coming too? This wouldn't be good.
