Sever was ecstatic after the trial. He had pleaded guilty, and he had been sentenced to jail. Shayel had also been charged, but after a mental evaluation had been placed in a mental hospital, similarly to her mother. He was happy that he had done it—that he had saved Laehal—and he went with the police officers willfully.
Shayel, on the other hand, had been angry and worried about Laehal. She had asked where he would go, and Pomrey had said she would sign the necessary papers—the legal papers—to adopt him. When Shayel had complained that she didn't know Pomrey, she was dismissed, as she wasn't legally Laehal's mother.
And Laehal was happy that he could see both Pomrey and Teriaj, and that he didn't have to live with Shayel any longer. He could have independance.
And of course, before the officers whisked Sever off, Laehal said an honest thank you to him.
And before Shayel would be taken away, he said a brisk goodbye. A goodbye to both her, and his old life. Because he would be starting a new life on the path of his destiny.
He was grinning as he and Teriaj got into Pomrey's car, and was grinning all the way to Shayel's house, where he would be packing his things to bring them to his new home—Pomrey's home.
He was excited. And so were Pomrey and Teriaj.
They arrived at his house, where he darted inside only to see a mess everywhere. He stopped in his tracks.
"Whoa, what happened in here?" Teriaj asked.
"Shayel has anger issues."
"Well be careful, I don't want you getting hurt," Pomrey commented as she slipped through the doorway past Laehal. She tsked. "There's glass all over the floor here. Watch your step. Teriaj, go help Laehal with his things, I'll try to clean up a bit so it'll be easier for you to bring it out."
Laehal and Teriaj started upstairs, while Pomrey stooped down to clean up the pieces of glass, muttering to herself, "The poor child."
