I tend to stray from the topic in my chapters soooooooooo
Anywhoop. Last time we were with Laehal, Teriaj, and Mother Nature, escaping the sacred grounds of the Fate's Palace to get some eats at Olive Garden. We figured out that they were in Greece...which is a lot farther than Sever thinks.
This time we will follow Sever as he and a group of individuals, including Saia and Pomrey, go to the place in which the Laehal actor was last seen.
Hopefully Shayel doesn't see through the façade...
XX
Sever awoke in the morning to a crook in his neck—which could be a problem, as he had to walk around a lot with Saia's crew, and Shayel to boot. That woman made his head hurt just with her attitude.
He sighed. He hoped that they wouldn't get very far—and how would this even help? He had no idea where Laehal is. How was he supposed to keep Shayel's attention diverted?
Maybe he didn't. Maybe he just had to tell her straight up that she was crazy. He could turn her into the police, but of course he would also need to be arrested for forging documents.
Now that Shayel was going with them, it would be a lot harder to keep her off of Laehal's real track, wherever that even led.
Maybe something would happen, and she wouldn't be able to come? Sever hoped so.
His thoughts turned abruptly to Laehal. Where was he? He couldn't have gotten far, he's probably not even out of the town. But how would they even find out where Laehal was?
Sever smacked himself. "Of course! Cameras. Just like they used in the tape for Shayel—ugh—I can't believe she bought it!" He shook his head, then checked the time. "I'm late!"
Just as he was running out the door, his phone rang, and he had to run back to answer it.
"Hello?"
"I need to work. I can't go with you. But if you do not find him today, I will find him myself."
As quick as she had called, Shayel hung up.
"Speak of the devil and he shall appear."
Sever then decided to ring up Saia to tell him the good—ish—news.
"Saia? Shayel can't come, she has to work."
"That's good news, Sever my pal. What luck, hey bud?"
"Yeah. Though she said that if we didn't find Laehal today that she'd find him herself."
"Sever, you need to get on top of your game! She can't play it for you. You're the boss, she's just a client. You work at your own pace."
"I know, but what if she does go and finds out we're deceiving her?"
"Sever, my man, she can't until she has a day off. We still have time."
"We can't keep postponing this! Eventually she'll find out, and she'll be mad."
"Don't worry about that right now. We still have time."
This was the one thing Sever didn't like about Saia. He only thought ahead a certain amount before stopping, and once he gets past that point he has no idea what to do until he plans a tiny bit more.
"Saia, I was thinking last night. Maybe I should just turn her in for bad parenting—illegal parenting."
"But you'd have to turn yourself in, too."
"I'm aware. It might be best. It would fix things. I'd feel better—more moral, you could say—if I was locked up for what I did. I'd be righting my wrongs, and saving Laehal from Shayel. She could be locked up in a mental asylum for requesting my assistance. It's a risk I'm willing to take."
"Glad I didn't help you with that, then. I don't want to be turned in."
"I wouldn't have ratted you out. This is my mistake, not yours. But now is not the time for arguments. We need to go to Saskatchewan."
"You're right. I'll be waiting at my house. Pomrey was here three hours ago, by the way. You're late." Saia then hung up the phone.
Sever knew he needed to be the bigger man, but it was hard when you doubted yourself. Maybe he just needed a self confidence boost or something. Nevertheless, he ran out the door and into his car, then drove over to Saia's house.
XX
Well that was a turn of events.....
What do you think of Sever? Is he really a bad guy?
And what about Shayel? She's acting as if she's running Sever's business.
And Saia? For a forger/counterfeiter, he doesn't plan ahead very well.
