Request from Crazy_Kat_R5, thanks a lot and sorry for getting this up really late! I spent, like, a LOT of time thinking this through so bear with me. This takes place in the Half Blood Prince but it's more or less like a random episode instead of an actual scene...so yeah.

"ARGH!" you shouted in frustration, burying your head in your hands as you stared at the empty parchment in front of you. Professor McGonagall had just left you a load of homework for Transfiguration, and you were unfortunately falling behind. Ginny, your best friend, was at Quidditch practice right now, and you would have greatly appreciated Hermione's help but she too had loads of homework to do, taking way more courses than you could imagine.

"Hello, (Y/N)."

A dreamy voice cut through your thoughts, and you glanced from the parchment to see your friend from Ravenclaw, Luna Lovegood, smiling serenely at you, her white blonde hair tied in a ponytail and her radish earrings and Butterbeer cork necklace on her neck as usual on top of her Ravenclaw robes.

"Hi, Luna," you smiled as you patted the seat next to you, which she took obligingly. "What are you up to?"

"Oh not much," she replied airily. "I just entered the library to get myself a good book to read when I heard you. Is something wrong?"

You breathed a huge sigh of relief as you turned to her, finally able to spill all the troubles that have been holding you back. "Yeah. Lots of things, actually. First, there's homework from McGonagall, and Snape, and Slughorn...and then, well, there's...another thing..."

"Don't worry about the homework. I got a lot too," Luna replied. "I mean, it's typical, isn't it? Our OWLs are coming soon, and I know they--"

"Want us to succeed. Yeah, I get that," you said dully. "And I'm not getting ANY ideas for McGonagall's paper."

Luna gently placed a hand on your shoulder. "I can help."

"You serious? Thanks," you smiled back, and the both of you got set to working on McGonagall's essay. About half an hour later, just as you finished the paper and rolled up the parchment, in flew Ginny, her red hair flashing under the floating candles in the library, her Quidditch robes still on.

"Oh THERE you are, (Y/N)!" Ginny cried in relief. "And hey, Luna!"

"Hello, Ginny," Luna waved. "What's the--"

"Harry," Ginny said, grinning widely. "Harry asked me out after practice today."

Suddenly, all the relief you felt with finishing your Transfiguration paper with Luna crumbled into pieces. "He--he did?"

Ginny nodded excitedly. "Yeah. And we're going out together on the next Hogsmeade weekend! Oh, isn't this exciting!" She twirled around once, sighing dreamily, and Luna only smiled while you frowned, glancing down in your lap.

"That's wonderful!" Luna cried with a calm air of happiness.

"Congratulations," you muttered, feeling your heart twist in agony.

"Thanks," Ginny beamed. "Anyways, thought I'd just let you know--hey, are you crying?"

You shook your head. "Uh, no. Don't worry about it."

"Alright." Ginny shrugged as she waved again to you and Luna, running out of the library with such speed it made Madam Pince shout after her to slow down.

Luna silently turned to you. "So that was the other thing, was it? You like Harry."

"Y-yeah." You sighed and felt the tears burn behind your eyes. How could you have been so stupid to realize that Harry would never like you? What are you, anyway? Just Ginny's best friend, and another good friend of Ron and Hermione's too. But that was it, was it? Would there be anyone who would like you for you? Admittedly, now that you look back on it, the crush you had on Harry is probably the most stupid one you could imagine.
