First Dudley Dursley X Reader that I thought of once more on the spot. It might be a short one, I don't know. I barely see anyone do any one-shots with the Dursleys so I thought I'd give this a try. This happened after the Mason visit in the Chamber of Secrets.

The sun hit you with a blast as you exited the house like every day, a smile decked on your face as you strolled through the neighbourhoods of Little Whinging. Everywhere you looked, you saw colourful flowers greet you with their open petals, and people all around were laughing as they surrounded the picnic tables for a wonderful barbecue. The sight of it all made your smile turn into a huge grin, though you had to admit, as much as you loved the simple summer appearance in the little town which you passed by every day, you half-wished you were back at Hogwarts with their spectacular views from the castle.

Yes, you were a witch, fresh from your first year of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The last year had probably been one of the best in your life, learning magic and making friends from your house, Gryffindor. In fact, the last year had been so fun, you wished you wouldn't find yourself back here with the common Muggle folk again for the summer...but here you were, along with a notice not to use any magic outside of school.

Great. Not like you would, anyway.

Suddenly, you felt something shove you by the shoulder, and you turned around to face a rather large boy about your age, though slightly shorter. He was well groomed with dark brown hair sticking from his head, but otherwise, he was quite fat. Some sticky residue of pudding stuck to his body, the icing now outlining his arms. The sight of this boy now made your smile vanish.

"Uh...I hate to be rude, but can you not push me?" you asked him.

The boy shook his head. "No. I can't not do that. In fact, none of you could tell me what to do! You can't!"

"And who are you now to proclaim such a thing?" you demanded.

The boy dusted his shirt off and puffed his chest out in pride, a funny sight for a 12-year-old. "Dudley Dursley," he proudly introduced himself.

At the mention of the name "Dursley", you almost fainted. You recalled one of your friends at school, Harry, make mention of his mean aunt and uncle and cousin, all with the surname Dursley. Though you didn't pay any attention to their names, you safely guessed now that you have quite unfortunately stumbled upon Harry's mean cousin.

"And you are?" he prompted, glowering at you.

You swallowed, trying to hold in your fear. "I-I'm (Y/N)," you stammered slightly, swallowing again. "(Y/N) (Y/L/N)."

"Huh." Dudley frowned as he looked at you with an eye of interest, which suddenly made you uncomfortable.

"Yeah. I would have figured that you wanted me to move anyway. I do tend to take up a lot of time standing in the middle of the sidewalk, for all I know," you said offhandedly.

Dudley shook his head. "Yeah, now..."

"What was with that shove?" you asked him now. "I mean, what made you so rude back then? It's not nice to be pushing strangers."

Dudley scoffed at you now, his eyes wide. "If you knew, you'd laugh. My dad had just recently lost his face in front of his bosses, and so he had been refused a promotion. And now, I have been laughed at for eating so much dessert! All because of my stupid, idiotic, rude cousin!" Here, Dudley stomped his foot so hard you thought he would accidentally stomp through the ground if he wasn't careful.

"Whoa." You gently raised a hand to stop him, and luckily, he did. "And who is your cousin?"

"Really? What in the right mind would make you ask that? If you're really all that curious, I'll tell you." Dudley took a breath. "Potter."

"Potter? You don't mean Harry Potter, do you?" you asked him, an eyebrow raised.

Dudley paled. "H-how did you know who I was talking about?"

"I know him. I go to his school," you said with a shrug.

"No. Way! If I knew you were one of them I'd avoid you without an apology!" Dudley shouted.

"Oh really? So you really think it's wise to go ahead and shove everyone out of your way, is that right? Just for being blamed upon for eating so much sweets?" you countered. "Look, Dudley. You can't just go around and blame everyone for your anger. I'm sorry about your dad. Really, I am. But do you have to put the blame on Harry?"

"He literally dropped the pudding on Mrs. Mason! And me! With magic!"

"Look, I'm pretty sure he didn't mean it, Dudley. Sometimes, we do things without intention, and everything flies out of our control. So what? It doesn't mean that we should all be classified as the weird type, in your eyes."

"My mom thinks my cousin's weird," Dudley muttered.

"But I don't. And you shouldn't, either."

This made Dudley look round. "What do you mean, I shouldn't?"

"Everyone is all born a human, Dudley. Wizard or not, we're all human. We all feel the same emotions, we all make mistakes...we're all weird in our own way. Wizards aren't all that bad, Dudley. And I'm pretty sure neither are Muggles."

"You sure about that? If I find out you're lying, you'll receive more than just a shove from me," Dudley warned you.

To this, you nodded. "I'm sure. Take me for example--I'm a witch, like Harry who also knows magic. But I'm not bad, you know. In fact, I'm a pretty friendly person. I can get along with everyone...like you, for instance. A lot of us are like that, just without that magic quality. It doesn't matter what we are, Dudley. You just have to go farther beyond the first impression. Just promise me you won't put all the blame on Harry."

For a moment, Dudley said nothing. Then he nodded. "I guess so. Thanks, (Y/N). I'm sorry for what I've done earlier."

"Not a problem," you said, getting up and helping him to his feet. "So I'll see you around?"

"I'll make sure Harry's unharmed," Dudley promised. "That, you can count on."

You laughed and nodded as you parted ways, your spirits lifted just slightly higher than before. At least for today, you have made a new friend, one who is quite different from some of the other people you've ever met.

Don't know how to feel about this one. I might have to edit it.
