As we don't have a proper picture of Teddy from the films, I present you a portrait of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks's son! :) And this one-shot is inspired from a song I listened to, a film I watched when I was younger. DON'T JUDGE! IT'S A TOUCHING SONG!
Anyway, here we go.
The cool wind blew pleasantly through your hair as you headed to the Potters, skipping all the way from your house to theirs since you didn't live that far away from them. A smile was decked on your face now, and your eyes were shining with happiness at the thought of being able to spend a week with the Potters while your aunt and uncle and cousin were all away on their own vacation. Being the nice relatives they were, they allowed you to spend that holiday with them, and you couldn't help but feel excited to see James, Lily, and even Albus again--but you were most excited to see Teddy Lupin, Harry's godson and your best friend at Hogwarts, again.
Funny, how close you and Teddy had grown to be. Now you were both entering your fifth year, and James is just going to start his first year after the summer is over. How fast did time fly? It only felt like yesterday when you saw Teddy for the first time, when Lily was just a young toddler, and Albus and James were just little boys running around the platform. Whatever the case, you never felt closer to anyone but the Potters and Teddy...not to mention, you also started developing feelings for Teddy but never told him.
"Hey (Y/N)!" Harry greeted you the moment he opened the door upon hearing your knock.
"Hello...Mr. Potter," you greeted him back, waving as you entered. "How are you doing?"
Harry grinned. "I'm doing alright," he said. "The children are dying to see you."
"(Y/N)!!!!!"
You turned around to see James fly towards you at high speed, hugging you tightly the moment he got to you. Surprised at his enthusiasm, you hugged him back too.
"Hey James," you greeted him too with a smile on your face, as you also caught sight of Albus and Lily waving to you.
"Look! I got my Hogwarts letter!" James cried proudly, waving his envelope in the air. You grinned as you saw the crimson wax seal on the edge, gleaming under the chandelier light.
"That's great James!" you cheered in encouragement. "Now you can join me and Teddy! Oh the fun we'll all have!" Then the smile fell from your face as you realized you haven't seen Teddy yet. "Uh, sorry to ask, but where's Teddy?"
Ginny's smile also faded upon you mentioning Teddy. "He's...he's at his parents' grave, just a block away," she responded. "Visiting his parents, as usual."
You nodded bitterly, biting your lip. Teddy has always told you that Harry and Ginny raised him, but soon he realized the truth in his third year and now he has become more and more withdrawn. Perhaps now was the best time to comfort him, to tell him, to let him free from his shell...
"I see," you nodded. "You don't mind if I go visit him?"
"Go ahead. Just be really cautious," Ginny warned you, and you nodded as you left the house for a bit, the Potter family waving to you as you made your way to the graveyard. Of course you knew which graveyard they were talking about--in fact, there was only one on the block, and that graveyard also happens to be the one where you mourn also for your own parents, who died in the Battle of Hogwarts--which just seemed so long ago, but it was still fresh in your memory, and never to fade as long as you were alive. That was why you lived with your uncle and aunt and cousin. No one else would take you, though truth be told, you didn't mind living with them--they were pretty nice, and understood your need for freedom whenever you needed it. Like now.
