Okay so something really weird happened last night, I had a really strange dream and most of it involved Cedric...nothing too intimate, we were just walking around the grounds holding hands and chatting for the most part and OMG OKAY I'M BLUSHING YOU KNOW WHAT I'M GOING TO STOP HERE and just get along with this one-shot that I'm making up.
"Come on, (Y/N), you've been studying for this Transfiguration OWL for the last six hours!"
The sound of your best friend, Tracy, speaking up as you were burying your head into your textbook in the Great Hall reached your ears, but you made no effort to respond. After all, the upcoming OWL exam was tomorrow, and you had to give it all you had. Otherwise, your hopes of being an Auror at the Ministry of Magic were dashed.
"No, Tracy. I have to study up for this exam! It's worth practically my entire life!" you cried.
"Uh huh." Tracy clicked her tongue. "And I suppose it was also worth you skipping out on lunch? And dinner?"
"Not funny, Trace. I have to study."
"(Y/N), (Y/N), (Y/N)." Tracy crossed her arms and leaned on the table to look at you in pure despair. "What in the world am I going to do with you?"
You smirked as you finally glanced up from your textbook. "You could sit here and watch me read, or do something of your own entertainment if you don't want to watch. Or test me."
"Nah, I'll pass up on all of the above." Then a slow grin stretched across her face. "Hey, let me see if Cedric is free right now!"
At the mention of Cedric's name, you blushed furiously. "W-what?!"
"Yeah! You heard me! I'm sure he'll find a way to get you off your lazy butt!"
"Not funny! I'm not lazy!" you shouted, but Tracy only giggled as she ran out of the Great Hall, leaving you with a plate of untouched food and a textbook in your hands.
"She's probably gone in the wrong direction," you heard a boy's voice speak up. Not just any boy's voice, mind you. His voice.
Cedric Diggory was standing right behind you, and you glanced up, blushing again slightly. To see this Hufflepuff prefect standing there already made your day; he was, after all, one of the most handsome students in your house, not to mention he's a prefect, and a Quidditch player. In short, he's a really popular guy.
"H-hi," you stammered, raising your hand in a wave. "Uh, what's up?"
"Not much. Thought I'd drop by and say hey," he said, sitting in Tracy's spot and glancing at your textbook. "What's this you're reading?"
"Hmm? Oh, just my Transfiguration textbook," you answered airily. "You know, since we have that OWL tomorrow."
Seconds later you felt a tug, and the book was snatched away from your hands.
"HEY!" you protested, looking up to see Cedric with your book in his hand, a slightly mischievous glint in his eye.
"You know, your friend is right," Cedric said. "It's about time you get a study break."
"That isn't funny! Give it back!" you cried.
But Cedric shook his head as he raised the book high above him. "Nope! Not gonna happen!"
"CEDRIC!" you pouted, grappling at his arms in an attempt to reach the book, but Cedric had other plans. He stood up from the bench and ran out of the Great Hall, your book tucked under his arm.
"Catch me if you can!" he cried, jumping up and running off. This made you growl as you stowed your bag away and ran after him, causing all of the other students to jump.
"OY! Can you watch it?" you heard Percy Weasley from Gryffindor shout, but you just shook your head as you passed him into the corridors, close on Cedric's tail.
After what felt like hours, you and Cedric somehow had ended up outside. It was now mid-afternoon, and the sun was still blazing high above in the beautiful azure sky, the green grass beneath swaying in the slight breeze. Glancing around at the marvelous landscape, you scanned the entire perimeter from where you stood, eventually finding Cedric near the lake.
"HA!" you called out, running over to him where he was teasingly waving your book around in his hand. "Gotcha!"
Just as you approached him, though, you tripped over a loose stone hidden in the grass, and you shrieked as you felt yourself flying forward...landing in a pair of rather strong arms.
"You alright, (Y/N)?" Cedric asked gently.
The sound of his voice by your ear made the blush return furiously to your cheeks, and you nodded, not meeting his eye. "Oh, yeah, um...yeah! I'm feeling great, I guess." Straightening up, you then dusted yourself off and held your hand out. "Now, my Transfiguration book, please."
Cedric laughed, an airy chuckle that made you shiver pleasantly. "You really think I'd let you chase me all the way down here just to give your book back?" he asked you teasingly. "Not a chance, (Y/N). You need a break from studying."
"But Cedric--"
"Look, I know everyone's fussing over exams, but that doesn't mean we can't have a bit of fun at the same time," Cedric reminded you. "You got to relax at some point in time, (Y/N). Cooping yourself up in your studies isn't going to help. Believe me, I know."
To this, you raised an eyebrow. "Fun?"
"Yeah. You know, just...get your mind off of studies. Do something you like," Cedric said, taking your free hand in his as he pulled you closer. "You don't mind if we just, you know, have a chat here by the lake? I mean...I do want to get to know you more."
"Of course I don't mind." You grinned, squeezing his hand once. It wouldn't hurt, anyway. After all, the only things you knew about him were his name, and his handsome looks.
Cedric laughed again as you both sat on the bank by the lake, he putting your book to the side as the both of you picked up a conversation. It felt so easy talking with him, laughing together and joking together the same way you did with your friends. It only felt like minutes, but soon the sun was beginning to set, the beautiful red and orange hues painting the skies in a fiery light, creating a spectacle to the eye.
"Wow," you whispered. "That looks amazing."
"Yeah. Not as amazing as you, though," Cedric whispered back.
You shook your head. "Nah. I'm not that interesting to look at, trust me. What am I? Just a person--"
"Who's special and unique in her own way," Cedric interrupted you. "You really are something special, you know. To me, at least."
"You--you think so?" you asked.
"Mhmm. Why else would I even bother bringing you out here?"
"You mean making me chase you out here," you retorted lightly, which brought a laugh from Cedric.
"Just trust me. You're a really interesting person," he said, taking your hand again.
The touch of Cedric's hand on your own was already enough to make you believe him. You smiled as you leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "Thanks, Cedric."
"A-anytime," Cedric replied, holding out your Transfiguration book. "Uh...want to head back?"
You nodded. "Sure. I thought you'd never ask."
Little did either of you know that Tracy had eavesdropped on the entire conversation, giggling to herself when the both of you left.
"Yes!" she whispered loudly, smiling to herself as she followed the both of you back into the castle.
So? What do you think? I know, it's short, but oh well, it's cute in my opinion but lacked a LOT of fluff in my opinion...oh well.
I think I'll just go and die from fangirling over Cedric. Don't even ask me how he appeared in my dreams last night, he just...did.
