"GO JAMES!" you screamed, cheering along with the rest of the Gryffindor team as you watched your best friend and secret crush, James Potter, fly around the pitch once in an attempt to locate the Snitch.

James grinned upon hearing your voice as he swerved downwards to dodge a Bludger, roughly knocking over a Slytherin player and making her drop the Quaffle before something gold glinted not too far from where he was hovering. Instantly, he dived, and you watched in horror as the Slytherin Seeker on the other side dove right after him, flying towards James with such speed until they were neck and neck with each other, the Snitch just an arm's reach away.

"Come on," James muttered to himself, reaching out his arm, putting in just a final burst of speed until he felt something cold in his hand, something fluttering...and then he put his hand up in triumph, stopping his broom completely as a deafening cheer from the Gryffindor side arose from the stands, while the Slytherins booed.

"He's done it! James Potter from Gryffindor has caught the Snitch!" the commentator cheered through the megaphone as the game finally came to a close.

James grinned so widely as the Gryffindor team attacked him with hugs that he barely had time to cheer along with the rest of his house. Nonetheless, though, this was the first time he and his team managed to bring the Quidditch Cup home, and as the trophy was passed along to him, the Quidditch Captain, he raised it high, the silver cup glistening under the bright sun making everyone smile. In fact, no words needed to be said at all. Everyone was able to feel the triumph.

"OY! GUYS! PARTY IN THE COMMON ROOM!" one of the players shouted, making James grin at his teammates.

"Come on!" James cried, soaring away on his broom with the rest of the team following suit, while you quickly exited the stadium, your heart pounding so hard one might be able to feel it jumping up and down beneath your robes. Yes, you had a crush on James since fourth year last year, but every time you saw him he'd either be flirting with Lily or be too busy with his own buddies doing lord knows what. And you knew he was gaining popularity among the students, but who knew how much longer it would be before...before...

"You okay, (Y/N)?" The sound of your friend, Grace, talking to you made you feel slightly better as you turned to her.

"I'm...okay," you admitted. "Just a bit scared is all."

"Scared of what? James?"

You nodded slowly, pulling the Gryffindor scarf tighter around your neck despite the fact that you were already in the castle.

"Hey. I know you and James have gotten along great over the last few years," Grace encouraged, putting a hand on your shoulder. "And he's a great guy to know. One can only hope that he'll see the good in you too."

You nodded sourly now, jamming your hands in your pockets. "Yeah. The key word is hope here, though. I mean, consider this. James Potter--who doesn't know his name by now?" You sighed dramatically before continuing. "And he's even flirting with Lily Evans. Lily, Grace. What's not to like about her, either? She's so perfect. So smart. So...so...argh!"
