You had a secret.

Okay, maybe you're thinking, doesn't everyone have secrets? Yes, they all do, and if they do they tell no one but their best friends. In the meanwhile, you barely had anyone to tell this to. And though it's not the most scariest thing in the world that would make everyone scream and jump out of their seats in fright, but it's still something that would give everyone a scare, because to your knowledge, no one would believe you if you told them you were an Animagus.

Yes. At will, you can change from being a human to a hawk, flying above the school grounds during free time just to ensure you can still change form with ease. Your father trained you when you were younger, and he even registered you as an Animagus at the Ministry. But even so, you never told anyone. Not even your best friends at Hogwarts, the Marauders. And certainly not your crush, Remus Lupin.

Strange, isn't it, how you fell for this young Marauder above the others? Well, you didn't mind, either. James was always infatuated with Lily, Peter in your opinion was a bit out of your league, and Sirius was a bit too much of a troublemaker. That left Remus, probably the kindest and most sincere boy you've ever met since your first year, and now you were in your seventh year with no idea how to tell anyone about your transformation. Students as Animagi were uncommon...right?

Well, not at all.

"YO! (Y/N)! Head's up!"

You were snapped out of your reverie immediately by James, who threw a very big pillow in your direction, and you caught it in your hands as you threw it aside, Lily at his arm giggling.

"Why, good evening to you too, James," you said with a slight huff of annoyance. "Can't you SEE I'm studying? We have our NEWTs coming up! And I'm sure Professor McGonagall wouldn't want anything below an E for us in our Transfiguration exams if we're to become Aurors!"

"Ahh, there'll be plenty of time for that," you heard a voice perk up from above, and you glanced up to see your crush, Remus Lupin, stroll by with a sloppy grin on his face.

You smirked as you glanced back at your textbook, shaking your head. "I doubt it. It's almost the end of the year anyway."

Suddenly, Peter and Sirius tore down from the boys' dormitory, wild looks in their eyes. "Guys? Moony? Prongs? It's full moon."

"By gods, you're right!" James' hand jumped to his hair as he looked outside of the window, signalling the rest of the boys to follow him. "Come on guys!"

"Wait!" you called out, dropping your Transfiguration book in a hurry. "What's going on? Where are you going?"

"We'll be back," Remus promised, taking your hand in his and looking at you sincerely in the eye as the rest of the boys ran out of the common room. "Promise, (Y/N)."

"O-okay," you nodded, sounding less certain as they all ran away into the school grounds, making you feel...empty. It has to happen, does it? Every month, at full moon, the four of them would go out of the school, but why? What's going on?

You shrugged as you went back to your Transfiguration, while Lily was reading her Charms textbook. Time ticked until it was way past one in the morning, and then Lily yawned.

"Hey (Y/N)? I'm going to go to bed," she said now, giving a tired wave, which you returned.

"Alright. Good night, Lily," you smiled, and Lily nodded as she turned away, her red hair glinting in the fading firelight as she went to her dormitory. You nodded as you turned back to your Transfiguration, memorizing complex spells and theories at the same time you wondered about the boys. What's taking them? What was it about the full moon that--
