HARRY POTTER X READER one-shots [COMPLETE]

Clumsy (Neville)

I know I have a Remus Lupin X Reader request, but for the sake of the winter season (and the fact it snowed yesterday YEEEEEEEEE!) I'm going to an original Neville X Reader. I mean, I haven't done Neville before so let's see how this would turn out. 

"IT'S SNOWING!!" you heard the excited voice of Seamus Finnigan call out from the steps of the boys dormitory, flying down to the common room with a huge smile on his face. "Who wants to go skating on the Black Lake?"

"Wait, what?" Ron looked up from his Charms essay to see Seamus's flushed face. "Skating?"

"Yeah! We don't have much homework left from our professors right? So we can all just go outside and skate the day away! That would be pretty neat, right guys? Come on!" Seamus looked expectantly at the rest of the Gryffindors sitting around in the common room. 

Hermione shrugged as she finished off her Arithmancy. "I don't mind. It would be lovely."

"What about the actual skates?" you asked, glancing up in fear, unable to believe that Seamus suddenly brought this up. If the entire common room was going except you...well, you didn't want to feel left out, but at the same time, you didn't know how to skate, and telling any of the Gryffindors greatly scared you.  

Seamus shrugged. "We can get them from Hogsmeade! Now who's with me?"

There came a chorus of "I AM!" and soon, everyone was out...all except for you and Neville Longbottom. This sudden realization made you blush; out of all people, you had to stay with Neville. Clumsiest guy in the house, but also...also...someone with a sweet side too.

Someone you couldn't help falling for since first year.

"(Y/N)? You planning on going with them?" Neville asked, turning to you.

You raised your eyebrows at this question. "What about you, Neville? Are you?"

"Yeah. Of course I will. But what about you?"

You sighed as you set your quill down. "Promise you won't tell anyone else about this?"

Neville nodded. "What's going on?"

Taking a deep breath, you eventually told him. You trusted him enough to tell him your secret anyway, and it's about time someone knew. "I can't skate."

This made Neville gape at you slightly. "What do you mean, you can't--"

"I've never learned, and the last time I tried I almost injured myself," you explained, feeling tears burn behind your eyes. "Talk about clumsy."

"(Y/N)," Neville started, but you shook your head. 

"Go ahead and have fun, Neville. It's okay," you said bitterly. 

But Neville didn't move. Instead, he approached you and wrapped an arm around your shoulders, making you turn to him. "(Y/N), not everyone can do everything. Sure, you're smart and everything. And it's okay to not be able to do something right. Take a look at me--I'm clumsy, I can't do things right without screwing up some of the time. It's okay to be scared of things too--it's all part of being normal. Not everyone can skate, but hey, no one is going to judge, right? It's all about having fun. And I can help you. My gram's been teaching me a bit."

"Has she really?" you asked, feeling a glimmer of hope in your chest. 

"Yeah. And I can teach you," Neville offered. "How would you like that? At least you'll be able to have fun with us, right?"

"That's true." You nodded and smiled. "Sure. I'd love that."

Neville beamed as he stood up, taking your hand as he literally pulled you out of the common room. "Awesome! Now come on! Let's go before they ditch us!"
