I'm going to include all of the Marauders again in this one--you are best friends with them in this one, nothing romantic. This actually happened to me yesterday, so... :) Hope you enjoy!
PS THIS MIGHT BE SHORT. I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE.
"Yes! Free from exams, free from study!" Sirius cheered as he and his best friends Remus, James, Peter, and you all headed out to the Black Lake after your final OWL exam in Defense Against the Dark Arts. And who couldn't deny how amazing the day was? The sun was shining, the students were socializing as always...the cheerful buzz made you all smile as you approached your favourite place to hang out.
"I know," you sighed, letting out a cheerful laugh. "It's a relief. Finally!"
The boys all laughed as you finally reached the big beech tree by the lake, and it was there where the five of you crashed onto the grass, rolling on your backs to see the dazzling glare of the sun. A gentle breeze whispered through the branches, gently kissing your cheeks as you laid there with your eyes closed, soaking in the heat of the sun.
"Hey, what are your plans for the summer?" Peter finally asked his friends.
Sirius shrugged. "I don't know, really. Though all I know is that I'm staying with the Potters. Anything can happen there, right?" he added with a chuckle, and you smiled faintly as you heard James laugh in agreement.
"I'm probably going to France with my parents," Peter answered.
"What about you, Remus?" you heard James ask.
"Well, I'm probably going to try and brush up on what we need to know by next year," Remus answered lightly.
"Ah yes, Remus the studious one. How could I not forget?" It was hard to deny the genuine awe in James' voice. "Honestly, the Sorting Hat could have placed you in Ravenclaw, what with your knowledge and brains. Not to mention intelligence."
You could imagine Remus shaking his head as he responded, "If I was placed in Ravenclaw, you would probably never know of my secret, and I probably wouldn't have many friends there."
This part, you knew, was true. Remus had grown up with a werewolf's curse after being bitten by Fenrir Greyback when he was younger. Only recently did your friends find out about his secret, but they all let in--and you did too. The only difference was, only the four boys went out on the full moon to accompany Remus--you, however, did not want to risk being outside at night.
Suddenly, the wind picked up and you let out a shriek; something had landed hard on your shoulder.
"(Y/N)? What's wrong?" Sirius asked.
You shook your head wildly. "I don't know! The wind picked up and--holy crud, what is that?!" you cried, pointing at your shoulder at something green crawling up your robes.
Everyone except for Peter let out a wild laugh. "(Y/N), did you mean to tell us that you're scared of caterpillars?"
"Caterpillars?" You let out a huff as you faced them. "Guys, this isn't funny! Of course I'm scared of bugs--yeesh, I'm frightened of them! I think I got--what is it--entomophobia? Or something? I've never liked bugs after I got stung by a bee!"
"Okay, sorry." James let out a wheeze as he approached you with a leaf in his hand. "Take this, and let it crawl on it."
"Or let it crawl on your wand!" Peter suggested.
"You want (Y/N) to hex it and make it grow bigger?" Remus reminded Peter, who shrunk.
"Sorry. Never mind what I said."
"Come on, little guy," you murmured, holding the leaf close to the caterpillar. The caterpillar, however, only crawled halfway onto it before it retreated and went back onto your robes.
"Dang it!" James cried. "Well that didn't work."
"(Y/N), take off your robes," Sirius suggested.
To this, you blushed. "You want me to WHAT?!"
"No no! I mean, take off the jacket!" Sirius clarified. "You know...the black jacket over your uniform? Your cloak?"
"Oh." You complied, peeling off the jacket and holding it to the light. Sure enough, the caterpillar was crawling up the back of your robes, inching along like a little worm.
"Well, this is one interesting bug," Peter commented. "And by the look of it, it's harmless."
It turned out Peter was right. The caterpillar seemed to have no desire to take a bite out of your robes--instead, it was just crawling along trying to find a leaf.
"Well, I won't mind wearing this," you eventually decided, gesturing to your cardigan and school dress. "It is hot out anyway. Plus, I doubt this guy is going to leave for a while."
Remus nodded as he picked up a couple more fallen leaves, setting them on your robes in a scattered pile. "There. Let's just let him eat, yeah?"
"Yeah."
And the five of you spent the rest of the afternoon watching the caterpillar eat, and eat, and eat...
Okay, in reality though it didn't happen like that. The first bit was the same--a wind picked up and something landed on my shoulder. Turned out it was a green caterpillar which landed on my t-shirt. I was alone at the time, so then I went over to a little clearing with trees nearby, picked up a leaf, and tried to get it off my shirt, but the caterpillar refused and traveled by the back of my shirt. By then I was freaking out so I turned the shirt around so I was wearing it backward, and then it crawled up to my neck (EEK) to which I was like, "THIS IS OUT OF BOUNDS" and plucked it off my shirt (with the leave over it) and placed by down by a tree, where it crawled to the ground.
I'm not that scared of bugs but like the reader, bees and wasps freak the hell out of me. I've been stung by a bee once, my sister a wasp, my dad a bee, and my mom...well she hasn't been stung, I don't think. XD Anyway, so I hope you liked this one-shot! Sorry if it's so short!
