"Again." Jacob pressed. I grunted and stomped a foot.

For hours, he had been trying to make me see Jonah through the carriage wall using my Sense. Nothing was working, and Jonah had gone to take a nap. Apparently, Jacob could still see him glowing in a pale blue coloured light, just that he was laying down. Evie could also see him. Henry, however, wasn't at the train. He had taken some business to his shop so that we could concentrate. Concentration was, quite apparently, key to mastering Eagle Vision. I was trying my very hardest, and was getting no results. Anger had taken over me quite a few times. Blood, sweat and tears, quite literally tears, went into this skill and surely, if I actually had the Sense, I would have been able to use it by now.

I held my head in my hands, squeezing my temples hard with the balls of my hands. A hand fell to my shoulder and Jacob smiled widely at me.

"I know how you feel. It isn't easy to find your Sense. But you will be able to do it. Even if your mother wasn't directly training you to use Eagle Vision, what she did do will be very helpful when it comes to using it." He stepped back. "You just have to focus hard on what you want to see. Don't even think about doing it. Just do it." He gestured to the door. "Imagine there is no wall there. Imagine that all that is there is Jonah. That's it. Nothing else." He grinned. I frowned at him, raising an eyebrow. "Look, I'm not the best at explaining things, but that's what helps me. So, just...do it." Evie smiled.

"He is truly awful at teaching things, but you will understand it at some point." I wiped crusty tears from my cheeks which had gotten there from my last failure. I took a deep breath and held my eyes on the wall. I felt a slight burning sensation in my head and screamed quietly, clutching my head and bringing it to the table.

"Woah, woah. What happened?" Jacob crouched so that he was level with my head.

"It's burning." He grinned.

"Perfect! That's how it normally feels the first time. You have to power through the burn and then you will be able to do it." He stood again and grabbed some water for me. "Drink this. It should help with the burning. Then, once you have recovered, we can try again." I sipped from the glass.

"You are doing so very well, Carina. Do not think you are incapable just because it has taken a while. It took Mr Frye here three days to perfect the skill. And I still wouldn't say he has it perfect." Evie chortled from behind her book. She was scanning the pages for any information on any Pieces of Eden which may have been found by recent assassins. Her delicate fingers traced words and she used swift, fluid movements to jot down any findings in a little notebook.

"Tell me when you are ready. I am going to grab something." Jacob then disappeared into the other carriage.

"If this makes you feel any better, women usually take less time to learn how to use the Sense than men." Evie winked. I giggled.

"That does make me feel better. Thank you."

"No problem. It could even be that your brain isn't ready to use it. Edward Kenway, the Master Assassin in London last century, found his Sense purely by accident as a young lad. No older than ten. He had been day dreaming and suddenly his vision went dark, then lit up with reds, blues, whites and golds. That should be what you see."

"It sounds beautiful. Does the burning last long?"

"Not at all. Five minutes maximum. Mine lasted merely until the lights kicked in. Jacob, however, whinged about it for a few hours, but he was really only in pain for two minutes." She set her book down to write down a larger chunk of information. The burning in my head dulled and I swallowed the remainder of my water. Jacob tossed a small box into the carriage and then stepped in himself. The box smack against a counter, and I was worried it would break.
