"Jacob. You kidnapped someone. Again." Evie chortled as Jacob and I entered the curio shop. She was tying a scarf around her neck and tucked it into her robes. Henry looked up from his desk.

"She actually came willingly. After I shoved her in a carriage. Oh, by the way, we now have a carriage." I smiled and stepped closer to the desk.

"Jacob told me that you could help me find out who my parents really were." Henry placed his papers back into a small box by his feet.

"Of course, Miss Faraday." He gave a little smile and gestured towards the backroom. "Right this way." I followed him, and Jacob and Evie tailed in after. I took a seat in a small, leathery chair. It squeaked whenever I moved, so I tried to stop myself from moving at all. I folded one leg over the other in an attempt to look more ladylike. Henry sat on a wooden chair behind another desk. Evie and Jacob took up chairs beside me, Evie brushing over a map with her fingertips while mumbling to herself. "Who would you like to learn of first? Your mother or your father?"

"My father. I want to know why he was such a heartless bastard." Jacob dropped something to my right.

"Alright." Henry sifted through his papers. He pulled up a few pieces of paper, one with 'Michael Faraday' jotted on the top. He spread them across the table top. "Michael Faraday. Templar, scientist, passed in 1867." I nodded. "Known for his work in physics and chemistry. What specifically do you need to know?"

"What are Templars and assassins?"

"Ah, that makes my job a lot easier." He picked up another piece of paper, this one only half full, with my mother's name on it. "Assassins are people like Jacob, Evie and I. We believe in a strong set of rules which every assassin must follow. We pursue total freedom for all people and civilians. We also attempt to ruin all the efforts of the Templars, our enemies. The Templars are a group of people with the same aims as us, but very different ways of reaching these goals." He set down his papers. "Your mother was an excellent sword fighter and an assassin, trained by...an unknown assassin."

"She was training me to fight. Brass knuckles, swords, the lot."

"Probably trying to bring you into the assassins, no doubt." Jacob added, running his finger along the edge of a blade.

"Yes. That is what it seems to look like was happening. In fact, I believe your name was mentioned in my notes... Yes, here." He handed me the sheet of paper.

"She asked for me to be brought into your Order?"

"What did I say?" Jacob smirked.

"That is why father never wanted me to see her will..."

"I will have to take this matter up with a higher authority, possibly Brother George..." Henry was speaking to himself. "I should write him a letter later on today to ask about your induction. I should be able to carry most of it out here, but I will need his permission." I rubbed my wrist. "If you should so wish to join us, that is."

"It was one of my mother's last wishes. I must follow them." I bowed my head slightly. "Thank you, Mr Green."
