We finally had some work to do. Henry assigned us all a job each, and we were to go out and do it. By ourselves. Henry gathered us around the assassination wall on the train first, before setting a task to each of us.
"Owning the railway wasn't enough. Now, Starrick has bought an omnibus company as well. I suppose he wants to control the neighbourhood's workers and keep them under his thumb." He was sifting through papers to prove his pervious statements.
"Pearl Attaway is Starrick's competitor, is she? Perhaps it's time I went into business." Jacob stated with a grin.
"And Miss Frye? What are your plans?"
"I studied the history we recovered from the Kenway Mansion's hidden room. I'm off to a certain monument." She folded her arms over her chest. Henry looked to me. My heart pounded. I hadn't done anything for the last three weeks, except when I went to the park with Jacob. After that, I spent the time reading story books.
"Miss Faraday?"
"I will be visiting Mr Bell and also our seamstress. My robes need mending and I would like to have my grapple looked at." Henry nodded. I sighed internally. Really, I would be going to those places and then joining up with Jacob, just as we had both agreed, and we would both visit Miss Attaway. Basically, Jacob wanted to shirk off on his work for a few hours while I went out and sorted my gear out.

Alec practically tore open the door to his shop without me needing to knock. He invited me inside with a wide smile. The musty smell of wood and dust hit me a soon as I stepped through the doorway.
"So, Miss Faraday. What brings a young assassin like you to my door so early this morning?" The many clocks around clearly showed that it was one in the afternoon, but I shrugged it off.
"My grapple has been sticking recently. I was wondering if you would have a look at it, since it would be horrible if something were to happen while I was hung in the air a few feet above the ground." He nodded.
"Well, of course. Unbuckle it and place it on the table." I did as he asked as he sifted around in his tool box for something to mend it. "Oh, take a seat. This may take a while." I liked Alec, so I decided to stay until it was finished, rather than doing whatever else I needed before coming back. He always had some new gossip to tell me, due to the telegraph.
"Have you had anything new through the telegraph?" Alec smirked.
"Nothing interesting, I'm afraid."
"Really?"
"Yes. It has all been rubbish propaganda about Starrick lately. I wish I had something useful to relay to you." I groaned, scratching my cheek. "Anyway, how have you been?"
"I have been good. Jacob and I took a trip to the park near the shop a few weeks back now. We fed some of the ducks. It was actually a lot of fun, despite the company." Alec chuckled.
"Quite. I can imagine Mr Frye was rather annoying."
"Oh, of course. But it was also fun to be with him for a whole day without having to worry about any of this messy assassins and Templars business." I waved a hand in front of me. "What about you, Alec? How have you been?"
"Oh, the usual. I have started a new invention, not that I quite know what it is yet. I have intercepted a lot of rubbish on the telegraph. Oh, actually, I did get a visit from a lovely young lady this past week." I raised an eyebrow.
