"Jacob!" Evie yelled as we entered the vault. Once inside, we sped towards the console where Jacob and Starrick were fighting. However, the Shroud was tightly around Starrick and Jacob looked as if he was losing this battle. Evie got closer and Starrick threw Jacob back. A blast of energy shot Jacob even further, and he smashed into one of the columns.

"Jacob..." Fear rushed through me and I approached him to make sure he was okay. I could hear him breathing, but he was unresponsive and his face was contorted in pain.

"The Shroud was never meant for you!" Evie screeched at Starrick, swinging her sword cane at him. He seemed completely unaffected by the attack. I managed to flip Jacob onto his side and he coughed. With every hit from Evie's sword came an echoing thud and a groan from Starrick.

"Jacob, are you alright?" He panted slightly.

"I'm fine." He started to lift himself from the floor. "I have to help Evie."

"Mr Starrick! You forgot to escort me home!" She plunged her hidden blade into his stomach.

"It doesn't look like she needs help." Both Jacob and I watched as the blood on his clothing disappeared, his wound with it. The Shroud was healing him... Evie gasped.

"Let me rectify my mistake!"

"Evie!" I screeched. He smacked his hand around her neck, lifting her from the ground as he did. Jacob was already up and sprinting towards her to help. She was tossed just as he had been and slapped against the pillar.

"Another Frye to feed on! First you will fall, then the Queen."

Jacob attacked him in much the same way as Evie had done - wild, random swings of a sword cane, mostly landing to his face. I watched the bruises disappear and the blood being absorbed back into his body. The sight was horrifying, and I knew that Jacob would simply be bested again by Starrick. Each hit, however random they may have been, was landed with slight precision. I knew that I would need to help soon, as Evie didn't look as if she would be quite ready to attack Starrick. Plus, he was an arsehole, and I wanted something to hit.

Jacob sliced at Starrick three times before sinking his blade into his chest. Starrick grabbed his hand and, slowly, pulled the blade out of him. He laughed as he did it. He then moved his arm around the back of Jacob's neck and pushed him towards the console with his elbow. He punched his upper back twice, Jacob hitting his head onto the solid table. With a strong, vice-like grip, Starrick twisted him around and dug his fingers into his neck. Struggling for breath and being unable to escape, Jacob simply tried to claw Starrick's hands away. I stood from where I was crouched, and rushed forwards.

"No amount of planning or might shall beat me. I have history on my side." Starrick uttered.

I slashed at him with my Kukri, feeling the bite of his skin tearing on the blade. I rarely sharpened it, and now I was using that fact to inflict more pain on such an evil man. Slice after slice, nothing affected him. Still he came back from every hit. I went for his neck but he leaned back. He grabbed my wrist and attempted to punch the side of my neck. Instead, I ducked down and landed my blade to the left of his stomach. The Shroud was no longer working as well, and blood still remained on his clothes. The countless attacks were working. However, Starrick of course acted back. He smacked my hand away from him and I fell to my knees. Then, with a swift punch to my temple, he sent my head spinning and I was unable to focus my eyes on one point. His gloved hand clutched my throat and no air entered or escaped me. I heard running behind me and, with my last bout of energy, I slammed my hand up with my blade retracted. He smacked my hand away just as Jacob swung his arm in. Starrick batted him away and grabbed his neck as well.
