Another week passed by quickly since there was no more work for us to do in that time. In fact, Henry didn't particularly know what we would be doing for the next two weeks after that. And so, on a Wednesday morning during the second week of having nothing to do, I woke up to Jacob leering over me with a stupid smile on his face. I leaned up on my elbows and pushed some of my tangled hair out of my eyes.

"What do you want?" He stuck out his tongue. "Jacob, don't you play this game." I waggled a finger at him. He quickly smacked it away.

"I thought I could take your mind off of everything by taking you for a walk. Henry and Evie are out somewhere, so I say we leave the train in the trusted hands of Mrs MacBean and go out as well." His teeth were visible in a brilliant smile.

"Alright. But what do I owe you in return?"

"Absolutely nothing." I raised an eyebrow. "I'm serious. I want nothing in return except your lovely company."

"Now I know you want something." He chuckled loudly and grabbed both of my cheeks.

"I swear I want nothing from you." I swatted him away.

"Fine. Just get out so that I can get dressed and make myself somewhat presentable."

For the days where we had no work to do, I wore my light blue dress. I wore it simply because it offered far more comfort than the assassin robes and, as we grew closer to summer, it kept me a lot cooler. I also decided that I would put my hair in a plait over one shoulder. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I barely recognised myself without the soot, mud and dried blood on my skin. I smiled, rather proud of the features I had been given by my mother and how I wore them so delicately. Of course, they suited her more, but I rather liked them on myself as well. I threw a thin jacket over my shoulders which had been knitted out of wool, grabbed a bag, then went into the main carriage.

"Right, where are we off to, then?" I grinned. Jacob nodded towards the exit for the train.

"Where are you young'uns off to?" Mrs MacBean called from her carriage. I winced.

"We are going out for the day. Please look after the train. I have left some money on the counter for you. Something extra." Jacob winked before pulling me out of the train with him.

The warm air hit me right away. It was such a lovely change from winter. I felt a smile grow on my face purely at the warmth around me. The station was practically empty at this time of day. It was rather early in the morning, but just late enough that the sun was out. People would be starting their business soon, and a few were already preparing their goods outside on carriages. A small boy ran past me, giggling. I looked down at him when he stopped by my side. He held up a single rose, crudely cut at the stem with the thorns still intact. I ruffled his hair as my way of thanks and took the flower from him. I slipped it into the button hole on my collar. The boy then scampered away with a wave aimed Jacob's way.
