Chapter 42

Tobins POV
I crouched down so Alex could hop on my back and we could be on our way back to the house.

Truth is, not that I'm scared of the dark or anything, but, when you're out in the woods... At night.... Yeah, kinda scary.

I hook my arms around her thighs pulling her up a little bit and she rested her head on my shoulder yawning and drifting to sleep I'm guessing.

About 30 seconds into the walk, i stopped dead in my tracks hearing footsteps that seem like they're approaching us.

I look around seeing nothing but the trees around us and start to get a little worried.

"Toby, did you hear that?" Lex asks. Well, guess she wasn't sleeping.

"Yeah, and I don't like it. I didn't come here to get murdered so let's walk a little faster." I say resuming my walk speeding up a little bit.

As soon as I did, the footsteps around us grew louder and faster and lex started panicking on my back.

"Toby, c-can w-we go any f-faster? I'm g-getting k-k-kind of scared." She says her voice cracking at the end.

I put her down lightly and look around us making sure there's nothing around us right now that would potentially harm Alex.

"TOBY LOOK OUT!" Alex yells but before I could react, I'm being tackled by someone in the dark.

"Get off you asshole!" I yell at the person squirming and trying to get them off of me.

"Get off of her!" Alex yells hitting him on the back trying to get him off of me but this only pisses him off more.

He punches me hard in my right cheek and swiftly gets off of me turning around and smacking Alex across the face making her Yelp in pain.

I feel my blood boil and all of my rage cannot be controlled anymore as I get up and into a fighting stance.

I charge trying to swing at his face only to have him duck under it and he turns around kicking me in the back and I fall to the ground.

He whistles I guess signaling someone or something to come out of the trees and what I see terrifies me.

He has 2 German Shepard's come out of the trees being held on leashes by what looks to be 2 men, one holding each dog.

"Look, I never meant to hurt you guys now. Just came to deliver a message. Tobin and Alex." The guy who I was just fighting says and I quickly get up rushing to Alex helping her back up.

I feel her shaking violently at the people and dogs in front of us and I pull her behind me protectively.

"T-t-that's l-Lucas' v-v-voice." She whispers in my ear before breaking down.

"Oh how delightful. She remembers me." Lucas says laughing menacingly.

"What the fuck do you want." I say clenching my teeth at him.

"Just a little chat honestly. I see my text messages haven't worked and Alyssa wasn't much help. I knew she was a dumb bitch. But anyways, Tobin, you're messing with the wrong people, you can give me Alex right now, and your dad and I will back down, or you can make me forcefully take her, and you won't like that very much." He says and my breathing picks up.

I feel Alex start to shake more as her sobs become louder and I know I won't let anything happen to her without getting by me.

"Go to hell. You've ruined your chances with her. I love this woman and you're not taking her from me. I don't care about your stupid attack dogs or that you're working with my dad. How do you even know about him anyways?" I ask trying to get a little more information.
