Chapter 43

Tobins POV

We all ended up falling asleep around midnight with Alex and I on the couch and max on the couch beside ours. Kelley, Hope, Ashlyn, and Ali all went up to their rooms.

Alex kept on mumbling in her sleep, something about me being careful but I didn't really mind it until she started moving around frequently and she started sweating.

"Tobs, please, no. It's not safe... No, he's gonna kill you, I love you.... Please don't go." She started mumbling.

I rubbed the sleep from my eyes looking at the clock realizing it was only 4 in the morning.

"Lex, wake up." I say quietly shaking her lightly making her grip around my waist tighter making me groan in pain.

"Tobin no...... I see... I see him coming Tobin please come back." She says still sleeping and I start to get worried now that I see tears starting to fall and she's sweating even more.

"Alex, wake up. You're having a nightmare and I need you to get up please." I say shaking her a little more but she doesn't budge.

"Baby please, I need you to wake-" I start but I'm cut off.

"TOBIN! PLEASE HELP ME! HE'S GOING TO KILL ME!" She yells now shaking violently and sobbing.

"Alex! Alex wake up now!" I say louder tapping her cheeks in hopes to wake her up.

After a couple seconds of begging her to wake up, she finally does with her eyes bursting open looking directly into my eyes and then digging her head into my chest sobbing.

I lay us both back down slowly, rubbing her back trying to comfort her as best as I can.

"Shhh, it's alright baby girl.  It was just a nightmare. You're safe." I coo softly into her ear hugging her tighter.

After a couple minutes, she finally starts to calm down and her breaths even out.

I look around us seeing if anyone woke up from all the noise but thankfully only max was sitting up alarmed looking confused at us making me chuckle a little bit.

"You almost gave max and I a heart attack. You okay baby girl?" I ask softly and she pulls away wiping the tears from her eyes.

"It all seemed so realistic. And he was t-trying to h-hurt us. And y-you said let's escape wherever w-we were being kept, b-but I heard him c-coming and you s-said you'd protect me e-even if that meant you g-getting killed..... And then, he came down.. And you tried to take him... But he shot you in the leg a-and you screamed out in pain and couldn't get up... And then. H-he started taking me away from you." She says breaking down again and I pull her into my chest again letting her get it all out of her system.

"It's alright baby girl, I'm still here. It was just a nightmare." I say softly.

I hold her there until I feel her breaths start to even out again but when I pull away, I notice that she's fallen asleep again.

I kiss her on her head pulling her into me as tight as possible without hurting her and then drift off back to sleep.

A couple hours later, I'm woken up by the sound of the spongebob squarepants theme song and I look over at the other couches noticing Kelley with the remote in her hand and Hope whisper yelling at her to turn it to something else.

I look down at Alex and I see her yawn then look up at me smiling.

"Morning." I say kissing her head and she digs her head into my chest again.
