Chapter 48

Tobins POV
I wake up slowly opening my eyes seeing a bright light beaming down at me.

"I swear, if I'm dead, Heaven better turn down the lights or something." I mumble and I hear someone laugh to the side of me.

"Are you like Jesus or something?" I ask trying to get my eyes used to the bright light and then I hear two other people laugh.

"If you consider me Jesus, then I guess so." The person says and I realize that it's Hopes voice.

I keep blinking my eyes and eventually, although the light is still bright at hell, I'm able to see around me and I see Alex, Hope, and Kelley are with me and I'm in the hospital.

"So I'm not dead right?" I ask and they all laugh again and Hope comes up to my bed grabbing my hand pinching me.

"Ouch you bitch. What was that for?" I say pulling my hand back.

"Welcome back to earth. And no, you're not dead. But you were out for 2 days. You lost a lot of blood Tobin. But thankfully we have lovely people on this earth who are willing to donate some."  Hope says nodding her head towards Alex.

I look to my other side seeing her looking at me with a big smile on her face and I smile back.

"Good morning sleeping beauty." Alex says and I chuckle at her silliness.

"Come here." I say and I scoot over making room for her.

"Yeah no thanks, I didn't want to lay down either." Kelley says pretending to be hurt and Hope grabs her hand pulling her onto her lap so that Kelley can lean her head on Hopes shoulder.

I wrap my good arm around Alex letting her put her head on my chest as she wraps her arm around my waist hugging me.

"You know what? I was doing some thinking, and we should make ship names for each other." Kelley suggest and Hope groans.

"Babe, we've talked about this." Hope says and Kelley shushes her.

"Please. I've already got one for them. Their ship name could be Talex. Combination of Tobin and Alex." Kelley suggests and I laugh actually thinking about this.

"That's not a bad name. I actually kind of like it." Alex says looking up at me and I nod in agreement.

"And you guys can be.... O'solo. Combination of Solo and O'hara." I suggest and Kelley smiles nodding.

"Deal. Talex and O'Solo. I like it." Kelley says and we all agree.

The doctor comes in a couple minutes later smiling at the scene in front of her.

"Hi Tobin. My names Dr. Van Hollebeke. How are you feeling?" She asks.

"Better. My arms still sore but I'm not in as much pain."

"Well, the knife cut you pretty deep causing you to pass out due to blood loss. Ms.Morgan was kind enough to donate some blood for you. You will be feeling some pain and maybe a little bit of numbness for the next week, but ibuprofen should definitely help. If you're feeling fine, you're free to go today in fact. I just need you to sign these papers." She says handing me the papers.

Thank god I don't have to stay here any longer.

I sign all the papers handing them back to the doctor standing up slowly with Alex's help.

We walk to the bathroom and Alex helps me put on a shirt and some sweatpants cause I can't move my right arm much without it causing pain.

After getting changed and out of the hospital doors, we make our way to Alex's car which is still in the hospital parking lot and I go to the passenger seat with Alex going to the drivers side.

The car ride is filled with a comfortable silence, everybody just enjoying the company of each other.

Alex drops Hope and I off at my apartment promising me she'll be back later on today.

Hope and I walk into my room and I plop down on the couch as Hope sits in the one next to mine.

"I know, that this might be a little random. But Valentine's Day is coming up and I need your help with something." I say and Hope nods encouraging me to continue.

"I went to talk with Per. And she brought up promise rings, so I mean, I was wondering if you wanted to help me go ring shopping. I'm not gonna propose or whatever you call it on Valentine's Day, Perry told me that's too cliche, but Hope, I love her. I really do. And I want to get the perfect ring for her." I say and Hope smiles.

"It's about time you decided to put a ring on it." Hope says and I groan.

"Why the hell does everyone keep saying that?" I ask and Hope shrugs.

"Alright, I'm in, Valentine's Day is on a Sunday so we can go Friday after school. She'll probably be caught up in work so let's do it. I wanna get Kelley something anyways." Hope says and I nod in agreement.

Time Skip February 12th

Today was finally Friday and Valentine's Day was in 2 days.

My arm was healing normally and I don't really have much pain. Of course the scar is there, but hey, at least I have another story to tell.

As always, Alex was caught up in work ever since we came back to school. As much as it sucks that we barely have time to hang out, her job always comes first so I'm completely understanding of it.

There's officially 5 More minutes of school left.

I'm so done today. Our school was having this "secret admirer" shit where you're supposed to pay $5 for a rose and card. Basically you pay for it, and on that card, you write a message and tell the people who you want it to go to. Then the people who run that booth go around giving it to the people.

Today was also filled with people kissing, touching, and groping in the halls. Like nobody wants to see that, get a room you nasties.

Hope was as fed up as I was so as soon as that bell rung, I grabbed all of my stuff dashing out of the classroom making my way to my locker.

I grab my wallet from inside, dropping all of the books pulling out my phone and waiting for Hope.

"Ready?" I hear her ask.

I look up seeing her with her book bag on nodding her head for me to follow her.

We walk quickly to the car as I look up the directions to the mall where we'd find the jewelry store.

I get a text from Alex and I smile.

Alex: Ugh, work sucks. I missed you today.

Me: I missed you and your beautiful face as well. Now go get some work done.

Alex: Fine. Ill come over tomorrow. Text me later. Bye, love you.

Me: Love you too. Have fun ;)

Alex: Shut up ;)

I put my phone back in my pocket and the car is filled with a comfortable silence as I think about the ring.

I knew Alex wasn't a fan of big fancy rings with all the diamonds so that narrowed it down a bit. She's always liked the simple but elegant type jewelry.

We arrive at the mall a couple minutes later and we both get out of the car walking into the gigantic building.

"Do you know where the shop is?" I ask her and she shakes her head.

"Nope. Not a clue. The search begins." She says and I groan.

This is gonna take a while.
