99. Resignation

The next day, I went to work normally and I am actually doing my one hundred and one percent best in my job, because today is my last day in work. I already have submitted my resignation letter to Mr. Carter, so I suppose he has gone through it already.

I am currently in the filing room rearranging some documents, because most of them are already mixed up with others.

"Diana" a voice said and it almost scared the shit out of me.

I turn around and I see Austin standing a few meters away from me; his body is against the wall and his hands are in his pockets. Right now, I don't really have time to deal with him and I am doing the best that I can to contain my patience when it comes to talking to this guy.

"Is there something that I could help you with?" I ask.

"No, I just want to ask if we could talk?" He answers sincerely and I can see it through his eyes.

I exhale, "I'm so sorry. I don't have time right now because I'm working". I turn my back on him and went back in rearranging the important documents.

Suddenly, I felt a body behind my back because of the sudden heat I just felt, and at once, there are arms around my waist and my back is now pressed against a hard chest. All the papers that I was holding drop on the floor and I slowly turn around only to be met by Austin,s eyes.

I push him away and I'm so glad he let go of me.

"Please Austin, just go away. I don't want you talking to me, touching me, or even going near me" I said calmly.

"Diana! Please just hear me out" Austin's voice went a little louder.

"Don't even dare!" Now I am somehow shouting. "All these times, I've been nothing but a good friend to you and how dare you ruin my trust by harassing me? I am sick and tired of your shit Austin. Please, just go away. Don't make my last day here the worst day of my life" tears started running down my cheeks and I can feel my chest burning.

"You're resigning?" He couldn't believe of what he had just heard.

"Yes! Yes, I am" I gulp down and wipe my tears.

"Why the hell are you resigning? Is this because of Niall? Don't you remember, he was the one who hurt you?"

"No! It is not because of him!" I defend. "And just to let you know that, yes, he hurt me but he never did it like he would kill me unlike what you did." I walk out of the room, leaving that stupid bastard.

I was walking furiously towards the ladies restroom when suddenly I bumped into a person. Oh no! Not again. I look up to see the person so that I could appologize but my tongue is tied when I see Niall.

"I-I am s-sorry" I said and before I could take another step, Niall replied.

"Are you alright?"

"Yes! I'm all good" I said forcing a smile.

Out of nowhere, Austin came running towards our direction but he immediately stop on his tracks when he spotted Niall standing a few inches away from me. Niall's head immediately turn to face Austin and then me and went back to Austin.

There was a complete awkward silence that occupied the whole space, for a while until I decided to speak.

"I'm sorry about a while ago, again. I really have to go" I said to Niall and started walking away.

I can still sense that both of the guys behind me are having a staring contest. No one is bothering to move and I am not really sure what will happened next. The elevator opens and I immediately went in pressing the ground floor button. It took me by surprise when Niall stopped the door from closing and he join me in the elevator.

"What floor?" I ask, not looking into his eyes.

"Same!" He simply replies. "So, I heard that you are resigning. Is that true?" Why is this day filled with surprises? How did he even know about this?

"Yep!" I said leaning on the mirror wall of the elevator.

"May I know why?" This time I decided to meet his gaze.

"Tara had given birth and I decided to go back to my original work which is a fashion designer. I studied as a fashion designer and not a company secretary, so I decided not to waste that" I answered giving him a smile.

"Well, that's a huge step forward. Tell Tara that I said congratulations for her baby" and with that, the elevator door slides open and we both headed out.

I started walking towards the receptionist while Niall went somewhere I don't know. Gail immediately smiles when she saw me approaching her.

"Is there something that I could help you with, Diana?"

"Uh, yes! Can you please just tell Mr. Carter that I am going home, and if he accepts my resignation letter, just e-mail me" I smile.

"Oh! Sure. Have a great day Diana!"

I went out of the building with the cold snow dropping on my hair. I hurriedly went over to my car and turn it on. I drove away and I decided to go to a nearby coffee shop to chill for a bit.

I went out of my car and went in the shop. The smell of coffee immediately went in my nose and it actually satisfies me. I walk to the counter where a young looking barista greeted me.

"What can I get you?" she asks.

"I'll have a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll" I smile.

"That'll be three dollars" she said looking at the screen of a computer.

I handed her the money and she told me to just take a seat because it will be serve to me once they were done making it. After a while, the coffee and cinnamon roll was serve to me and I took a sip from the cup.

Flashes of camera immediately caught my eyes, so I went to look outside the window to see what is happening out there. Dozens of paparazzis mobbed around a person and they are actually moving; I suppose the person they are trying to take a picture of is walking.

Two guys with built up muscles, wearing a black shirt with the word 'security' printed on their chest went in the shop. I am surprise how these security guys don't wear anything to warm their body when it's freezing cold outside.

A guy wearing ray bans with a brown coat covering his body and a beanie on his head, went in. The paparazzi tried to go in the shop after the guy, but the security immediately closes the door. I look down at my cup, avoiding all those annoying flashes.

I was in the middle of chewing my food when all of a sudden a voice said,

"Diana!"
