Nick's POV
"What was that?"
"What?" She asks.
"That." I say, motioning to the rustling noise.
"Probably a squirrel. Or a dog. Or worse, A rabbit."
"There aren't any rabbits or animals around here. Just birds. Maybe there's someone here? Maybe they found my secret space." I say, dramatically.
"You are so dramatic, Romeo." Katie says, rolling her eyes.
"Thank you, Lovely Juliet." I wink.
There's another rustle, I bite the insides of my cheek. Yes I'm awake. What was that? I look around us, I spot a familiar curly brunette. Damn it. Why is she here? She never knew about this place. She must've saw me running over here before. But . . . I never brought her here. Neither Leila or any of the girls I dated before Katie. We better hide, I don't want her to hurt Katie.
"NICK!"
Too late.
"How are you? I haven't seen you in. . ." She babbles.
"A month." I grunt.
"YEAH! A few weeks!" She purrs. This is annoying.
"Hum, yeah." I say, stepping in front of Katie.
"Who is she?"
"No one you know, and No one you don't need to know." I snap at her.
"A new girlfriend huh? Hi there, I'm Courtney." She fake-smiles.
"Oh hey, I'm Katie." Katie says, peeking over my shoulder.
"I'm his ex. So yeah, I'm telling you. . . Nick's a keeper!" She winks.
I clench my fists. "What are you doing here?"
"Just hanging out, I found this place a few days ago and I liked it! What are you two doing here?" She babbles.
"Oh nothing, We we're just having fun until you came." I snap once more.
Courtney laughs. WHAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY THERE?
"Oh Nick, you sweet pea." She says.
"It was nice seeing you, so yeah we need to go somewhere else." I say, breaking our conversation.
"Okay, Bye Nickyboo." She purrs before turning to Katie. "Nice to meet you, Bye."
"Goodbye Courtney. It was nice to meet you too." Katie smiles, bit confused of her actions.
Courtney blows me a kiss and runs off. Katie faces me with a confused expression.
"What just happened?"
"I think Rob didn't tell you about this girl." I sigh.
"Wait, Rob knows?" She asks. I nod.
"Okay. . . Let's sit here." She suggests and sit on the grass.
"Listen. ." I start.
"I'm all ears." She smiles.
"So yeah, She's my ex girlfriend. . . and she's. . . still not over me or something close like that." I explain.
"But why did you two broke up?" She asks, innocently.
"She cheated on me. With a friend of mine."
"Oh my God. I'm sorry for asking. I-"
"No, it's fine. You have the rights to know everything." I smile, reassuring her about it.
"So. . . Is that why she was giving me some side glances, oh I meant glares. And she purrs all the time?" She asks with a weird tone.
"Yeah, But keep this in mind, Katie. I love you and I will never let anyone hurt you."
"I love you too." She says.
