I can almost taste the tension in the room. Miranda glares at me accusingly like its my fault but I ignored her. I'm trying to hear any noise but my heart is beating so loud and my adrenaline is pumping.
They're here. I just know it. It's a good thing they didn't tie my hands coz I wouldn't have been able to activate the gps on the necklace Light gave to me. It's pure luck I was wearing it coz I didn't wear the charm bracelet Feiye gave me.
Shouting and gun shots were being fired outside and the smell of smoke is seeping through the door. Two guys went on either side of the door while the others waited and guns at a ready, pointed directly on the door.
The trio, Miranda, Coleen and Nathan were huddled on the far end looking tensed and scared. There is no other way out and we are stuck with each other. The odds were neither both sides for we don't know what is happening outside.
Footsteps came nearer the door then suddenly it bursts open. The guy who now I guess is the leader came in and immediately started ordering around.
"We have to get out of here. They've found us. This is the fastest we've been found." He muttered the last almost disbelievingly.
He took a key out of his pocket and unlocked the chain around my feet. He grabbed my arm and hauled me up.
I did not resist but I stayed alert, waiting for my chance to escape.
We immeiately went out of the room, the five of us in the middle of the goons. Shots were being fired everywhere when all of a sudden the guys surrounding us started falling.
The leader started dragging me until we reach a hallway where he suddenly stopped.
"There's a door out at the end of this hallway, if we hurry we might make it." He said to Miranda who only nodded.
Sullivan, my trainer, once told me that surprise attacks only becomes successful if you wait for the perfect time to initiate it. He told me that at times like this, I should wait for the opportunity to strike and to never hesitate. Aim for the places where they not only get distracted but also be physically unable to strike back.
I was waiting for my opportunity and the time has come. The leader loosened his hold on me and was distracted. The trio were weary and scared.
I immediately wrenched my arm off the leaders' hold and punched his throat. He dropped his gun and kneeled, choking from the force of my punch. For good measure, I kicked his head with enough force to render him unconscious.
I turned to the trio but they seemed to be in shock and I took that as my cue to leave.
I turned and started to run. It was only after a few steps that I heard a gun shot and I instantly felt a searing pain on my right arm. I almost lost consciousness as I felt myself drop but the moment my body touched the floor the spots faded in my eyes. The pain is intense as I gasped for breath.
I looked up just in time to see Miranda walking towards me, holding the gun the leader dropped. I mentally chastised myself from my mistake but it was already done. Miranda looked crazed as her hands shook but still pointed the gun towards me.
"Where do you think you're going? I won't let you get away and ruin all my plans." She's breathing hard as if talking takes extreme energy.
I slowly let myself rise, not wanting to feel helpless and powerless on the floor. "Just let me go Miranda. It's over. Your goons are gone." I almost winced when even a small movement caused pain in my arms but I won't let her see me in pain.
"I know that but that doesn't mean I should go down with them. I just have to kill you and pretend that we were also kidnap victims." She's smirking, clearly liking her plan.
