My grandparents were responding well to the medication and the swelling on my grandfather's brain has subsided. The good news brought me and my father a huge relief and now that their survival is imminent I can finally go back to school tomorrow.
Connor's family has provided added security to my family. On the rate that my family needs security, Connor's family will soon run out of agents.
While the investigation on my grandparent's accident is still ongoing a new lead brings the police closer to catching the driver of the van.
After ensuring the safety of my grandparents, my father and I head back home, both of us in a good mood. We are finally having positive results and it won't be long till our questions are answered.
"Are you ready to go back to school tomorrow?" My father asked breaking the silence in the car.
"Yeah. Although Light told me that some paparazzis were hanging around the school." I answered frowning.
"Don't worry about them. They can't enter the school and before they can come near you the security will have already handled the problem." We both stayed silent both of us deep in our thoughts.
"Hey dad?" I called his attention when a thought occurred to me.
"Hmm?" He responded glancing my way.
"Is Miranda still working in the company?" I asked curiously.
He sighed and stared at me straight in the eye. "Yes but do you really think she should work there?"
"You know it's the right thing to do or else they will never learn to respect us and value the money we give them." I answered equally serious.
"I guess you're right. I didn't think they'd go that far, borrowing money they can never pay much less get it from an illegal lending company." He sighed again. "I really messed up." He said both resigned and pained.
I awkwardly patted his shoulder. "Let's just forget about the past dad. We all are to be blamed and the best thing to do is to be better and make our relationship work now."
He smiled at me and holds my hand on his shoulder. "You are the best daughter anyone is lucky to have and I'm the luckiest father to have you as my daughter."
We silently went out of the car when we reached home and made our different ways when inside. I immediately called Light to give him the news when I entered my room.
"Hey." He said softly when he answered my call.
"Hey." I answered back a little breathless making me wince a little.
He chuckled making me blush even though he can't see me. "What's up baby girl?"
"My grandparents are doing better and I'm coming back to school tomorrow."
"That's great! School without you is agonizingly painful and boring. I miss you baby girl." He whispered the last sentence with his deep voice making me hitch my breath and blush furiously.
"I miss you too." I said shyly.
"Have you told the guys you're coming back tomorrow?" He asked.
"Not yet. I called you first right after I came back from the hospital."
"Don't tell them then. Just surprise them tomorrow when you come. They've been whining like fools saying they miss you and Feiye is very moody. Gordon made the mistake of asking if she's having PMS. She almost bit his head off with that one." He said laughing. I laughed with him. That sounded so much like my friends.
