After pigging out on our pizza, we decided to call it a night. When they've all left for their rooms with only me and Light left by the couch, we talked for a bit.

"You're not gonna start avoiding me now that you know I like you right baby girl?" Light asked straight to the point. I felt a pinch in my heart at Lights' evident vulnerability and somehow, I want to appease his feelings. I don't like the vulnerable Light, I want the confident and annoyingly cocky Light no matter how much it annoys me.

Sighing, I answered truthfully. "I won't. You're too important to me and I care about you. I'm not gonna go cliche on you and go avoiding you and acting awkward towards you."

"If that's the case, will kissing you make you act awkward towards me?" He asked again but this time he'd regained his confidence and is acting like himself again.

"What is it with you and kissing?  Do you have some fetish obsession on kissing?" I mock asked.

"Only with you baby girl, only with you." He muttered while pushing me to the far side of the couch and lying himself with his head on my lap.

"Do you remember when we were kids when we pleaded to my mom to let us get married?" Light asked breaking our comfortable silence.

"Yeah, she and your maids arranged for our suppose marriage in your back garden. I remember they put flowers in my hair and I tried putting some on you too." I laughed reminiscing the past.

"Yeah, and you almost cried when I said no. Good thing mom convinced you that only girls put flowers on their hairs. Man that would have been embarrassing." He said chuckling at the memory.

"We were so happy back then, so gullible."

"Yeah, mom still keeps our pictures. If you wanna see them you just have to tell her and she'll show you all of our pictures together."

"Really? I'd love to!"

"Yeah. Now that I think about it we're married baby girl. Should I start calling you wifey now?" Cocky Light asked smirking.

"No! God that's embarrassing!" I almost shouted out loud and I frowned when he laughed at me. "You're enjoying this are you?"

"Yes I'm enjoying but not because of your embarrassment but because of this." He answered and gestured his hands to us both. "You don't know how long I've wanted to be close to you again, to have this moment with you." His sincerity is palpable and so is the fast beating of my heart.

"Then why didn't you?" I asked quietly.

"Why didn't I what?"

"Why didn't you approached me before? Why did you let me stay alone for so long?" As much as I wanted to appear unaffected, my voice betrayed me, cracking in the end.

"When you stopped playing with me, stopped coming to our house and started ignoring me whenever you saw me I was hurt. I was so confused, I thought I did something wrong, I thought you've found another friend and didn't want to be my friend anymore." He then took hold of my hands and played with it while he continued. "No one told me that you were forbidden to play with me anymore, that you were forbidden to play with any other kids. It took me so long to notice that you never had friends after me,that you were hurting and lonely. By the time I noticed my reputation was not the best. I was ashamed of myself and I thought that you don't deserve someone like me. Call it shallow but I let what others thought of me to cloud my judgement. I didn't realize that you needed me as much as wi needed you in my life."

My throat aches and my eyes burn from trying to let my tears fall. I was clasping his hands tightly and when I finally looked into his eyes, my tears started to fall down.

"I'm sorry Skye. I'm sorry I haven't been there for you when you needed me. I'm sorry I was a coward for not fighting for our friendship. I'm sorry it took so long for me to gather up enough courage to bring back what we used to have."

"I'm sorry too. I guess I was afraid that if I approach you, you'd reject me. I was always rejected and pushed aside that the thought of you rejecting me was just too much."

We finally closed a chapter of our life and opened another. We parted that night both feeling as if a weight has been lifted off our shoulders. We've lost too much time doubting ourselves and fearing for the unknown. Now that we've bridged the gap it's time to focus on the now and plan on the future.
