--------------------------------------------
I am not a morning person especially if it is monday morning. There's just this undeniable resistance in my body forcing me to remain in bed but the incessant ringing of my alarm clock is a greater force and of course a reminder to get up and go to school.
After my battle with myself, I am on my way to school. If you are still wondering, I ride on the bus. Believe me when I say I have cars, I even have my motor bikes but I never wanted people's attention on me and those cars just scream attention. Besides, people at school thought I am just a poor girl who was granted scholarship. Some even thinks the school's owner pitied my family that is why I have been studying here since I was a kid. Of course they're bunch of idiots. The only people who knew of my real identity were Coleen, Light, the school nurse, the secretary and the principal. Coleen would rather die than reveal the truth, Light doesn't care and the rest were forbidden to tell the truth with the contract they signed courtesy of my grandparents.
Walking by myself, I went to my locker. Turning to a corner, I was hit by something. Opening my eyes, I saw everyone looking at me and laughing. I was drenched with what I think is spoiled milk. I heard them laughing and Coleen's laughter can be heard from all the noise.
I wanted to cry but I stopped myself and walk straightly. I forgot that Coleen will be back and knowing her, she will have her revenge. This is just the beginning and I can almost see what she will do for the coming days.
It's a good thing I always have spare clothes in my locker. After showering and changing, I hurried to my class since I'm running late.
Upon entering the room, Mr. Gibson glared at me. He's not the friendliest teacher and sends students to detention everyday.
"You're late Ms. Monroe." He said still glaring at me.
Looking down and feeling everyone staring at me I reasoned to Mr. Gibson. "I'm sorry sir, I just-"
"I don't care! Detention after class! Now go to your seat!"
"But sir I-"
"I said go to your seat or would you like me to make your detention last for a week?"
"No sir." I said whilst going to my seat. I heard sniggering and I instantly know that Coleen is also in this class. Sighing, I just tuned them out and listened to Mr. Gibson, I don't want another detention as I am still on his hot list.
Lunch is such a blessing. It's only the time where I can relax since Coleen and her gang hates hanging out here coz they hate the sun.
I was busy eating and reading when someone sat beside me. It was Nathan. He smiled at me and then winked. I just laughed at him.
"Someone's been naughty." He said still smiling.
I looked at him confused. "What are you talking about?"
"I heard you got detention. Owwww, my good girl is turning into a bad ass! She's growing up too fast!" He mocked crying after cooing. It was funny looking at him. I just laughed and punched his arms lightly.
"Silly, it's not my fault. Besides, it's Mr. Gibson's class, you know coming late means detention." I reasoned still smiling.
"Yeah, I once got detention from him. My mom called during class and before I knew it I just got myself a trip to detention."
We laughed till our tummy aches.
"It's a good thing I hate spare clothes, I would have gone home or smelled like spoiled milk all day."
He stopped laughing and looked serious. "What are you talking about?"
I would have laughed since he repeated what I have just asked him a few minutes ago but seeing him this serious sobbered me up.
Frowning, I answered him."You know, the milk they threw at me this morning?"
"I didn't know about that. Are you alright? You should've told me earlier. I'm sorry I wasn't there to help you."
"It's fine. I'm used to it. Besides, they've done worse and look at me. I'm still alive and well."
He frowned and shook his head. "You should learn to fight back Skye. Don't let them do that to you. I'm sorry I haven't been there for you all this time."
"I did fought back before but they get worse when I fight back so I just live with it."
"You don't have to worry about it anymore okay? I'll protect you, they'll have to run through me to get to you." His smile returned while looking at me.
I smiled back."Thanks Nathan. You don't know how much your friendship means to me."
"Yeah, who wouldn't want to be friends with someone as handsome as me? " He said while raising his eyebrows up and down.
I just laughed at him."You're so full of yourself!"
The rest of the lunch was spent with us laughing and goofing around. I have never had that much fun in a long while and it was such a great break from all the drama in my life.
