--------------------------------------------
A month goes by fast, it seems like a long time ago when I was alone and bullied. Since Nathan and I started seeing each other, little by little the bullying stopped. I don't know how he did it coz even Coleen stopped bothering me. She still hates my existence but only sneers or glares at me from afar unlike before where almost everyday she would find ways to physically hurt me.
Tomorrow is Coleens' birthday and a week after that is mine. All of them are busy at the house preparing for her grand birthday celebration and because people from school don't know about our relationship, I'm not allowed to attend the party. That has been the routine whenever they celebrated something at the house. My father thinks that my not attending to their parties is my rebellion. He never asked me why I don't go. Instead, he either go ballistic and shout and curse at me for being an insolent and ungrateful daughter or ignore me and pretend that I don't exist.
Maybe that's the reason why only few knows who I really am and I'm totally fine with that. I'll be leaving in a week and they can be the happy family that they are.
It's a good thing that today is friday so I can spend my time by the bookstore tomorrow and stay at one of our hotels.
Arriving at school, you can almost taste the excitement rolling off the students. Apparently, everyone were invited except for me. Nathan was sorry when he heard of it but I just told him it's alright, I still don't want to go even if I'm invited anyway. The boys were also invited but don't have any plans on going. They would rather eat Stephen's pizza, which is so gross by the way, than go to Coleen's party.
To say that I'm happy with their decision maybe a bit underrated because I have to admit, I was ecstatic and relieved that they won't be going. Even though I don't want to go to the party, it still sucks being the only person not invited. They may have stopped bullying me but come on! Even the other nerds and outcasts were invited.
Coleen must really hate me to do just that. She and her mother can have all of my father's money for all I care. I just want them out of my life, in that way, I can live peacefully.
Nearing my locker, I saw Nathan leaning in it and is talking to Coleen. They seem pretty close and I guess that's why she left me alone this past few weeks. When they noticed me, Coleen left while Nathan opened his arms to hug me.
"Hey, I've been waiting for you." Nathan said while pushing the strands of hairs behind my ears.
"The bus was late for a few minutes." I replied while I took some books out of my locker. We started walking to our class since we both have the first two classes together.
"That's why I told you I can come and fetch you so we can go to school together but your pretty stubborn." He then took my books to carry.
"I know, it's just that I don't know if that's a great idea. My life is complicated right now."
Sighing, he just slung his free hand on my shoulder and walked silently. I know I should tell him about who I really am but I can't seem to find the right time to do it till I decided to tell him on my birthday. I don't even know if he knows when my birthday is.
We arrived in our room and went to our seat. Our seats were assigned to us and it just so happened that he was seated next to Coleen and I to Light.
Light and I shared a secretive smile before acting like we don't care about each other. It was pretty funny when we first did this coz it feels like we were in on a big secret that only us knows.
The rest of the day was uneventful. I spent my lunch with Nathan and spent my classes only half listening coz the guys keep texting me odd topics which threw me of my concentration in class and instead participated in our wicked battle of debate on whose cooler that who. It was so funny and idiotic and totally outrageous that we kept on arguing till our last class. By the end of the school day, we don't even remember what we were arguing about.
After dumping my books, I went directly to the bookstore since Nathan has practice and won't be able to accompany me. The guys are going to the gym then Lights house to hang out. They invited me but I refused coz I don't know how long I will stay to help Ana and Ben.
Ana and Ben were ecstatic when they learned that my grandparents are coming and will be meeting them. I've been some sort of a bridge to them because they communicated through me. I know they'll be great friends.
When it was time for me to go back to the house, I was doing everything to prolong the inevitable but the shop is already closed and it's dangerous to stay out here at night alone. When I arrived, my father is already there and he looked disappointed at me. Guess I'll have to face the music now.
"You really are a big disappointment. Coming home this late. I didn't believe them when they said your doing your stupid rebellious streak but I guess they were right after all. When are you gonna grow us?" The more he talked, the more his voice became louder and the more my heart breaks. I didn't defend myself this time. What's the point anyways, he already made us his mind about me.
"Why can't you be like Coleen? She's a straight A student and never gets herself im trouble while you can't even maintain a C."
I almost laughed out love at that. What he doesn't know is that I'm the one with the straight A and Coleen is barely passing. If she doesn't bully those other nerds to make her assignments, she'll fail every single time.
"If you don't want to talk then fine. Just be sure to behave yourself tomorrow. I don't want the investors that are coming to see you ruining the party."
I turned to leave because it stings to hear how low your father thinks of you. This turns out to end far worst than I expected. I guess somethings never change.
