I know I shouldn't be laughing at this particular time but seeing Coleen trying to contain her rage was comical and damn hilarious. Her face has gone red from exertion and add to it the black eye and sore cheeks I can say I did a pretty good job.
I'm not someone who's big on revenge things and with all the shit they've put me through I can honestly say that karma has finally made its work.
My father surprisingly asked for my version of the event and so I did told them. Coleen was adamant that I was lying and she's insisting that I started the fight. With her face messed up I can see that my father believes her and Miranda is smirking with triumph.
"I don't see any reason why you would do that Skye. It's obvious to me who was hurt here and it's not you." John sighed, disappointment written all over his face.
I was struck with how nothing changed at all. I am still the wrong one and Coleen is still the good one in his eyes. All his speech on changing and being fair goes flying out the window the minute his beloved family got hurt.
My grandparents were silent and regarding me with understanding. They knew I won't lie about what happened and they knew what I'm feeling right now.
"All we know is what the girls have said and they clearly contradict each other. One of them is telling the truth and the other is not." Grandma started.
"Of course you'll side with Skye! You never liked me anyways." Coleen angrily reacted not letting my Grandmother finish.
"Don't talk to me like that young lady! Did I say that I'm siding with Skye?" Grandma asked angrily. Coleen shook her head embarassed with her outburst.
"I'm not siding with any of the two of you till I get the facts right. Unlike you John." Grandma added narrowing her eyes at my father.
John had the decency to look embarrassed with his action and remained silent.
Knowing this will continue till they are all in agreement I took my phone out and played the video Gordon took during lunch. I gave my phone to my father and told him of the video.
"Gordon was filming me during lunch because he said I eat funny and that's when Connie, err, Coleen came. I was hoping you'll take confidence in me this time but I was clearly mistaken." I said staring at my father.
He watched the video and when he was done he passed my phone to my grandparents. He appears calm not letting any expression touch his face. When they all finished watching the video, Coleen was pale and nervous. She keeps on looking at my father and then at me.
After a moment of silence, Grandad broke it and sighed.
"Well, now that everything is clear I expect you John to do what is right."
"I'll deal with this later, for now let's head to the library to talk about other matters." John said leading us to the library.
Grandma holds my hand and pats it affectionately.. No words were spoken but we understood each other. We followed my father and when we were all seated, Atty. Cortez handed us copies of reports concerning Mirandas' debts.
She was supposed to build a fashion store with different designer clothes and shoes to sell. Instead of asking for my father for money, she opted to go to a lending company in which she signed a contract stating that she will pay within a year upon cashing the money. The interest fee almost doubles the borrowed money and because she failed to pay up the lending company is now pressing charges.
"How come your business venture never made it?" I asked Miranda when no one talked.
"I used almost half of the money." She answered rudely glaring at me.
