Willows P.O.V
"Where are we gonna go?" I ask Byron panicking as the hinges on the metal door protecting us start shaking from the guards trying to break in, making the door easier for them to open. "We're completely trapped!"
"No." He disagrees shaking his head. "We can go out of that window." He said pointing at the small, narrow window at the edge of the room.
"What? Are you joking?!" I say looking down at the drop. "We'll die instantly. It's a fifty foot drop at least!"
"No, we need to walk across the ledge with our backs to the wall. It's a risk but it's the only choice we have."
"Then what?" I ask really uncertainty from how dangerous this all sounds. Heights aren't a fear of mine, but the drop itself makes me feel uncomfortable from how far below everything seems.
"Then we find an empty room and...you'll see. We need to move for now." The door is about to fall off its hinges now and drop to the marble white ground.
He opens the window then starts climbing out of it at a very quick speed, surprisingly fitting through from how narrow it is. I follow behind able to fit through also, but struggle from the massive dress. As I place my foot onto the ledge, I almost miss where I'm suppose to put my foot, making me slip. I lose my balance and start to panic. Byron grabs onto my arm just in time. I can't say anything, I'm completely shocked. Just as we had shuffled away of the window view we had climbed out of, a clatter erupted my ears relentlessly.
That'll be the door.
Me and Byron move quicker now, shuffling out of the edge before any of the guards can crane their heads out if the window to see us. The view of the Capitol is really breathtaking. The last time I had seen it was when I was chosen at the reaping and travelled here. Yet, I can't remember thinking much of the view. I can't really remember much at all now. The thin edge with the steep drop makes me feel nauseated.
Before long, Byron stops in his tracks, signalling a window.
"Through here." He says.
I turn my head to see a regular sized room. It's plain with white walls and no furniture inside.
Byron slowly but carefully lifts up the window already slightly open, proceeding him to climb through. I follow not able to look down any longer.
"So where do we go now? We're completely trapped!" He says nothing at my remark, looking furiously around the empty room. "There's nothing here. What are you looking for Byron?" I ask tiredly.
"Look." He finally says pointing towards the door.
The only thing there was a large metal tube leading out above the door. I don't understand. What on earth was Byron thinking?
"Please just tell me what you're planning." I say worn out, following him to the door half asleep.
After he opens the door we rush out, but he stops me in my tracks.
"There's a guard up there." He gestures moving his head right. I look across to see at the very end of the hall one stood with his back turned. "I could pretend to just be a guard but you're the most wanted person here right now." He sighs looking both ways. "And that dress makes it easy for you to be spotted."
