Chapter 27: Disgust

It's dark again now, the cloudless sky is at twilight, making it hard for me to see again. I've drank enough water to last me until tomorrow at least but still, I haven't eaten in ages. I would do anything for some food, due to feeling so drained of energy.

I keep thinking back to what I said last night after I killed the mutant thing then the cannon went off. It seemed so weird. I hope it was just coincidental and it was the creepy career Cory or the other tribute who was dead or from District 6 called Mia. (I had worked it out all from Drakob. He told me who had died from when the anthem played each night).

That means they'res only 3 tributes left that where alive. This was quite hard to comprehend.

I just prey it's not Drakob who had just died for some reason.

I start trying to find shelter to rest in; due to me not sleeping the night before. My eyes felt like they where going to fall out of their sockets if I didn't find somewhere to go to sleep soon.

There was a tall tree about 100 feet away from me which would be perfect to rest in. The branches on it reminded me of the other tree we had stopped in, when I actually had allies.

Perfect.

I run quickly to it and climb up the large thick trunked tree as if I was an animal, desperate to sleep...and for some food.

I found a comfy spot to sleep in and quickly got my sleeping bag out of my bag pack and wriggled into it. My stomach kept rumbling, desperate for some food.

Hoping Autumn was wrong, I hopelessly dig into my bag, looking for something to eat beyond hunger. But no. Nothing was there, even though I already knew this.

Giving up, I use my bag as a pillow and lie back down and try to get to sleep. I toss and turn in my sleeping bag for hours. Sometimes nearly falling off the large tree branch! I do this for all night even.

Autumn and all the other people I've killed are haunting my dreams whenever I close my eyes.

"Attention tributes," bellows a loud voice, waking me from my already disturbed sleep. I shoot up from my lying position in shock. "A feast is awaiting you in the cornucopia for the three of you- they are marked with your districts number." The loud echoey voice pauses for a short moment then continues again. "You will all find what you need desperately."

This made me wonder; should I go out there and get what I need from the cornucopia, or stay here and starve? There is probably some food for mine, but is it even worth it?

"Oh and tributes," the man adds. "The cornucopia has been moved last night while you where all sleeping," the thought made me cringe, "you will need to relocate it." Just great! "One clue," the voice says in a quiet snigger, "mountains." Then the humming sound of the mans microphone stops.

The mountains.

That's made it a whole lot worse. This must be why they moved it, so they can wheel us all in together to finish the games for good.

Maybe they are just getting bored of waiting for two of us to die?

I ignore my thoughts and concentrate on packing up all my things then climb back down the tree again.

I know that if I don't go they will just chase me there with an animal or something like what they did to Mom in the 74th Hunger Games. We where shown at school that the game makers used fire to get her and the careers (who my Dad was allied with at the time) closer. To kill her.

My Mom has told me briefly how bad the burns were on thigh when I asked, it sounded awful.

I decide to start walking there now because of this, I set off struggling to even carry this bag pack.

***

It's been about four hours since is set off...I think. Well, I'll just go with half the day. The sun is high in the sky now and was barley rising when the voice woke me up.

Thumps patted heavily on the ground. This made me stop immediately.

I reach out for by bow, but a strong hand stops me. I turned around scared stiff, hoping in the back of my mind it's Drakob.

I'm ready to apologise to him.

But no.

A dark sweep of hair is the first thing I see. Cold, dark eyes matching. The eyes stare back at me a if they where evil. It's that career who gave me them dirty looks whenever I saw him, Cory.

"Look here," he smirks to himself pushing my weak body to the ground. I'm too drained to fight him off properly. He then kicks my bow and bag pack off my back. "The Mockingjays daughter."

I hate how everyone calls me this here! I hate him!

He starts forcing my boots off my swollen feet, tossing them both far away. He then starts by trying to pull off my camo trousers.

"Stop!" I scream out as loud as I possibly can. "What are you-"

"Shut up," he hisses at me. Cory then holds a sharp blade next to my eye, digging into deeply into my bleeding skin.

"What are you-" I pant out but he holds the blade down deeper. I clench my fists in pain.

"Don't make a single sound or I swear to god I will kill you as slowly and painfully as I can." He really was as evil as he looked. "Not that I won't anyway."

This made me barf inside.

I try kicking my legs in defence but he is so strong that he can just push them to the ground. Cory starts to get closer to me ready to slit my neck.

Oh my god.

He really cannot be that sick.

All I want to do is scream and cry out for help. Well, for Drakob if he was alive.

Please don't, I cry out in my head. Please-

Cory looks at me as if he can hear my thoughts. "Why so upset?" He asks already knowing the answer. I just shake my head at him, stiff to the point where I can no longer move.

He starts coming closer to me now. I know what he's about to do. It's...horrible.

The fact that all the districts where watching and my parents must make the Game makers stop.

I lie there on the ground scared. Frozen. He is still holding the blade near my eye, slowly dragging it down my cheek.

He throws my trousers away and starts to take off my undies and starts slitting my legs with deep cuts.

"I'm going to kill you slowly Mockingjay. Don't you worry." He takes the blade and pushes it down until I can feel it stab my bone.

I cannot do this anymore. I just want to die already.

"HELPPPPPPPPPP!" I scream out as loud as I can to the sky coughing up thick red blood. The pain is horrendous.

"What the hell did I say to you," he growls, pushing the daggers blade down to my neck faster. He's going to kill me.

I try to roll over and reach out for my bow but he harshly stamps his metal boots on my hand.

Just when I think my life is about to end, a figure I can hardly make out stabs Cory in the back.

The sword is sticking out of his stomach, skimming my already bloody nose.

I didn't know wether to write this chapter like this.

The next chapter will be out soon guys!
