"Do you want coffee?" Michael asks me, and I look up at him and nod, grateful that he asked. Not just because I haven't had any yet today and need some type of caffeine, but because I haven't been able to get alone with Cat since I brought her out of there.
Grace went home for a bit so she could take Wilson out for a walk, and who knows where Luke is.
Michael walks out, and I lean forward onto Cat's bed as I put my head in my hands, rubbing my eyes.
"You really should snap out of this, Kitten," I sigh, not pulling my hands from my eyes, "It's weird without you."
"I miss your laugh, and your sarcastic comebacks and your ragging feminism," I say quietly, "When Grace was in her coma, I thought it was strange, but this, this is so different."
"You're my best friend," I whisper, looking up at her, shaking my head, "And because your my best friend, I have to tell you, even if you can't hear me, but maybe you can," I can't even look at her, so I stare at her hands.
"I'm going back."
I stay silent for a few minutes, mostly because I was hopping that somehow miraculously snap out of the trance she's in. But of course she doesn't.
"I got a call from my Major, they want me back in," I say, "I leave in a month, and it would really really suck if my best friend wasn't awake before I left."
I look back up at her face, her lip ring she got when we were seniors hugging onto her bottom lip. I always forget she has that. Her bottom lip is so big compared to her small top one, and I've seen it for so long I forget it's there.
Her long reddish hair neatly cascading over her shoulders from when Grace brushed it last night. Her usual bright brown eyes that are now dull staring at the ceiling blankly.
Her eyelids blink slowly, before she mumbles the same words she has for the past few days.
Her chest begins rising quickly as her hands shake, the heart monitor beeping erratically, "Kitten?"
"I'm only 20," her head snaps towards me, making me flinch back as her eyes stare at me for the first time in days.
"Kitten, calm down," I stand as she starts thrashing around in her bed, making inhuman noises.
"Asher!" I shout, trying to hold her down so she doesn't fall off the bed or injure herself, "Hit your nurse button, now!"
I hear him shift around before he says, "I did, what's going on? Is she okay?"
"Kitten, listen to me," I shout, her thrashing getting worse, "Calm down, stop!"
"What happened?" Dr. O'Connell comes running into the room, going on the other side of her, also trying to stop her.
The curtain separating Asher and her is pushed open as he stands there, holding onto his IV's, "Oh my god."
"I don't know, she started to thrash around and scream-"
"He's coming!" She screams, the first words out of her mouth that wasn't a mumbled 'I'm only 20', "He's going to kill me! Let me go please, don't kill me! You don't even know me, please, please don't kill me!" She screams at the top of her lungs, before she breaks out of Dr. O'Connell's grip and starts punching me, "Please, don't kill me!"
"I'm-I'm not going too-" I stutter, thrown off by the fact she thinks I'm the one who will hurt her, "Kitten, I-I would never hurt you."
Dr. O'Connell grabs a syringe from the cart the nurse who is standing in the room bought and fills it with a liquid quickly, before taking it and jabbing it into her arm, before pressing down on the top to make the liquid go into her body.
"I don't know you-" she screams, and I feel my heart break more, "I don't know you, you bastard, how could you do this to me?!"
Her punches on me get weaker and weaker, before her body goes limp in the bed.
He sedated her. She had to be sedated again.
I stand there in shock, before Michael comes running into the room, two coffees in hand, "What happened?"
Dr. O'Connell just stands there and stares at me as he breaths heavily.
I look over to Kitten, laying in the bed with her hair everywhere, her blankets all over the floor and the end of the bed, her arm falling over the side.
I shake my head and pick up my jacket that was hanging on the side of the chair I was sitting on, before walking out of the room.
"Calum- wait!"
I ignore Michaels calls too me, continuing to walk out the doors of the god damn hospital.
You don't know me, you bastard, how could you do this to me?!
