I know it's been 60 years but look how hot they look

I have gotten a few gut wrenching phone calls in the past few years.

One of them was really to Cat, but we were all together and I can still feel how my heart dropped when Grace's parents called saying she was in the car wreck.

When Grace called me saying to Catherine was in the mall, I felt my whole world crumple.

But this, this was something I never thought I'd feel.

Cat hasn't said anything since we got the call. We just booked the first flight to Seattle and hopped on it.

I was supposed to stay a few more days for some team practice, but I told my coach the circumstances and he understood. I probably won't be playing in the first few games of the season but honestly at this point I don't care.

"Catherine," I say quietly when I see a tear running down her face. She continues to keep her eyes trained outside the window of the plane.

I sigh, grabbing her hand and holding onto it tightly. She looks up at me now, her who persona giving off how broken she is.

"I knew this was going to happen."

I sigh, leaning over and putting my lips to her hair. She adjusts herself so she is leaning into me, my chin resting on the top of her head, her hands clenching his dog tags.

"I can't believe this is happening," Grace says, running her hands over her face.

"When is he supposed to be here?" Michael asks his parents.

"Within the hour," Joy says quietly, before standing, "I'm going to ask the nurse if she's heard anything."

They had to fly him back because the medical attention in Iraq was no where near good enough for what he needs.

We hear the sliding doors open, and we quickly look over, but it's not Calum- it's Ronnie.

"Ronnie?" Michael asks, stunned, "What the hell?!"

"I uh-" she looks down, "I heard about Calum and I-"

"You left."

I look over at Cat, who is sitting there, looking down, "He told you he was going there for himself, so he can grow, and you left him."

"Cat-" I go to put my hand on her thigh, but she looks up at Ronnie and cuts me off, "You fucking left him, how could you do that?!"

"Enough!" Luke shouts, standing up, but Ronnie puts up her hand.

"No," she turns to Luke, before looking at Cat, "You're right, I did leave. I was scared. I'm not going to apologize for leaving, but I am sorry how I did leave. I didn't mean to shut all you out. You guys were my family," She looks down, "Calum was my family."

"It's okay," Grace says, standing up and wrapping her arms around Ronnie, "It's good to see you again, Ronnie."

I'm taken by surprise, to be honest, considering the obvious relationship between Luke and Ronnie. But Grace is kinda a thing with Michael now? I'm honestly not sure what's going on with that.

Ronnie seems to be too, before she wraps her arms around Grace. Soon, everyone is joining in the hug, but Catherine just sits there.

"Catherine," I say quietly, and she looks up at me. She sighs before standing up and joining in.

All of a sudden, the doors burst open, and we all pull away from each other, seeing the doctors rushing in with Calum on a stretcher.
