I'm like excited for the next couple chapters but sad for the next couple chapters does that make sense
also hAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO MY FAV BOY IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD I LOVE CALUM HOOD
"They want to take her to psych in an hour and a half," Luke puts his hand on my shoulder.
My body tenses at his touch for some reason, and I look at his hand, before up to him.
I nod, "Can I just have a minute alone with her?"
"Sure," he says quietly, "Ashton should be back soon too, just so you know."
I nod, before I watch him leave the room. I look back at Cat, before groaning and standing up, putting my hand next to her head and hovering over here.
"Okay Cat, it's time to get up," I snap, "It's been a week. Asher was discharged yesterday and Ashton will be back from LA today. And if you don't get up right now, you're going to be in the psych ward, and my best friend is not crazy enough to be in a psych ward."
Her eyes are still trained up towards the ceiling, and I shake my head, taking her chin in my hands before turning her face towards me, "Wake up!" I shout, "Cat, it's time to snap out of this. Get. Up, you little bitch." I end in a light laugh.
Her eyes blink and for the first time in a week I see her eyes actually looking at me.
"Come on, Cat-" I urge, "Speak."
Her mouth opens as her eyes examine me, "Just talk, God damnit."
"I-I-" I feel my face soften as she tries to get words out, "I saw on-on Greys Anatomy that if you tell a shooter about you, th-they are less likely to kill you."
"Grey's Anatomy," I laugh lightly, shaking my head, "The first thing you say after a week of not speaking is about Grey's Anatomy."
Her eyes blink quicker, before I realize that she's awake. She's actually awake.
"Oh my god," I laugh, tears falling from my eyes, "It worked, it actually worked."
"Luke!" I shout over my shoulder before looking back over at Cat, hitting her in the arm, "You ass, you know how scared you had all us?!"
"I'm so confused," she says, before shaking her head, "Where's Asher? Is he okay?"
"He's fine, he's fine," I try to calm her as she tries to get up, "Cat, do you remember anything from the past week?"
"Week?" She asks, her eyebrows furrowed, "What- I was at the mall an hour ago- wait- why is it light out? Isn't it night time-?"
"Cat!" Luke says as him and Michael come rushing into the room, "Thank God you're back." He grins.
"Back?" She asks, "Where did I go?"
"You don't remember anything?" I ask, "At all?"
"I mean I remember," she gulps and looks down, "I don't remember what happened after it."
"It's been a week," I say, hitting the button by her bed that pages a nurse, "I'll let the doctor explain everything."
"Where's Ashton?" She asks, looking around, "And Calum?"
"Ashton will be here soon, I'll call Calum now, okay?"
She nods, before a nurse walks into the room, "You're awake! I'll page Dr. O'Connell!"
The nurse pulls out her pager and I pull out my phone walking away from her bed and dialing Ashton first.
"Hello?"
"She's awake," I grin, looking over at her, seeing Michael holding onto her hand.
"Are you serious?" I can practically hear his smile, "Holy shit, okay, I'm still on my plane but I should be getting off soon. God, is she okay?"
"I'm not sure yet, the doctor should be in soon," I sigh, "I'll see you in an hour or so."
I hang up, before I quickly dial Calum's number. I put the phone up to my ear, trying not to think about how the last time I spoke to him, he told me he was going back to Iraq.
"Grace? Is everything okay?"
"She woke up. You should be here, she asked for you." I say quietly, before pulling the phone away from my ear and hanging up.
I put a smile on my face before walking back to her bed as Dr. O'Connell walks in.
"Catherine!" He smiles, grabbing her chart from the bed, "Glad to see you responsive!"
"I'm very confused," she says again, her eyebrows furrowed.
"That's normal," he smiles, "I'll be back in a few to do one last check and then you can go home tonight."
I grin as he walks out with her chart, looking back at Cat.
"Why are you all smiling?" She snaps, "People died. I watched people's life leave their body. I watched their heart stop. I watched them die..." Her voice gets quieter as she finishes her sentence.
I feel myself getting speechless, not being able to form any type of noise.
"Yes, but we were worried about you," Michael says.
I look up at him too see him looking at me, before down at Cat, "Seeing you how you were was so fucking scary, Cat. So right now we are happy that you're okay. We're smiling because you're the one we love and care the most about, okay?"
I find myself now smiling at Michael, thankful he was able to talk Cat down when I couldn't.
He looks back up at me and sends me a small smile, before I quickly look away, embarrassed that I was caught staring at him.
I look back at Cat, who is staring at the ceiling before she looks over to me, "I really need to talk to Ashton."
