     Steven Universe POV

"There's my b-day guy." dad said, walking over to me after Amethyst had just helped me put up a banner.

"Uh, what's up, dad?"

"We're almost ready to start. Got your birthday cape and crown ready too. Here." he replied, handing me my birthday suit and snickering.

"Okay now, sit tight. You're gonna love this."

I sighed after dad shut the barn door, leaving me in the dark to change. Dad's words rang in my ears.

'Well, it's hard to say. He's a Gem, and Gems don't really grow up. I mean, I've known the Gems since I was twenty-two, and they never changed! They just are what they are. But Steven's not like the other Gems, he's half-human. So, I'm not really sure how he's gonna age. We're just gonna have to wait and see.'

Was I gonna age? Or would I stay the same? Then again, the gems are able the stretch their limbs... Maybe I could just...

     (F/n) POV

"Steven, open up!" Mr. Universe called when we were done preparing the cake and we were all in our poses. The barn door open slowly and out stepped Steven.

...Taller?

"Surprise!" everyone yelled before gasping at Steven's new appearance.

"Steven... Are you feeling okay?" Pearl asked slowly.

"Heh, you look good Steven." Garnet commented. "Oh," Steven chuckled. "Thanks, Garnet."

"Dude, your neck!" Amethyst gasped.

"Uh, yeah, what about it?" Steven asked, confused.

"You have one!" she hollered.

"So, you just grew... all of a sudden?" Connie questioned. "I just had a magical growth spurt just now. Cool, right?"

"Oh, right! It's totally cool!"

"Cool..." I mumbled and walked away. Suddenly I just don't feel like eating cake.

I sat on a chair and poked on the cookie cake that sat on my plate with a fork. Pearl gave me a slice, ignoring me saying I didn't want one.

I watched as Connie gave Steven her gift. It was a pink shirt, but Steven couldn't fit it because of his new size. He still loved it anyway. I guess I'll give him my present later.

~~~Timeskip to playing Badminton~~~
"Here it comes!" Pearl called.
 "I got it!" Connie shouted.
"Nice, Connie." Pearl remarked as Connie hit the shuttlecock to Amethyst. ...Who hit it into a tree.
"If you hit it, you get it." Pearl told Amethyst.
"It's fine, Pearl! I can get." I offered and ran to the tree it landed in. The shuttlecock was just out of reach and I could almooost get it...
"(F/n), let me." Steven said, appearing behind me. I turned to him and smiled, blushing.
"Oh, cool! Thanks, Steven!"
~~~Timeskip to dancinggg, yeee~~~

It was fun, dancing with Steven and Connie, that is. We were doing weird dance moves, and I'm sure my moves looked like a twerking constipated llama.

"This one goes out to the birthday boy, and his best friend." Garnet suddenly spoke into the microphone.

Steven and Connie looked at each other before giggling and dancing. (Chryssi-chan: Oh snap, that rejection though) I frowned slightly. But then again, Connie's known Steven longer than me. I wonder what he would see in me anyway?

I sighed and trudged to the back of the barn, where Mr. Universe and Amethyst were playing with a piñata...? "Oh, what's up, (F/n)?" Amethyst grinned, acknowledging my presence.

"Shouldn't you be dancing with your Steven and Connie?"

I shrugged. "My legs got tired. Probably from playing badminton." I lied.

"What're you two doing?" I asked, suspiciously.

"We're planning on abusing this colorful horse." Amethyst joked.

"Hey, wanna swing?"

I nodded, grinning. After about ten minutes of hitting the piñata, I haven't broke it yet. "I AM WEAK!" I screamed and started whacking the piñata furiously. Amethyst laughed and Mr. Universe cheered me on by chanting, "Get 'em, (N/n)!"

"It's no use," I wheezed.

 "You take it." and handed Mr. Universe the stick and he started whacking the piñata.

Suddenly, Steven ran around the corner where we stood, and panted. He became smaller!

"Ohhh geez... If I can just keep this up for the rest of my life, no one will suspect a thi-" he stopped when he noticed us.

I stared at him, wide-eyed. I could hear Mr. Universe's piñata stick drop in shock.

"What are you doing?!" Amethyst shouted at him.

"Well uh..." Steven stammered, growing taller again. "What are you doing?" He asked, chuckling nervously.

"What're you doing to your body?" Mr. Universe asked, obviously worried for his son.

"Steven, what the heck? This isn't healthy, have you been stretching your limbs this whole day?!" I yelled.

"Woah, woah, woah, have you been stretching yourself out all day?" Amethyst asked.

"No! I was just... Slouching." Steven claimed. He was a really bad liar.

"Why are you doing this? It... Really isn't like you." Mr. Universe said. I sighed. "Steven-"

"You know, I can't stay a kid forever, when Connie grows up and becomes president what is that gonna make me? First Boy?!" Steven shouted, frustrated.

"Steven, you can't just keep stretching forever, if you hold it too long, you could really hurt yourself." Amethyst warned.

"Yeah well, I'm half human so maybe it works different for me, we'll just have to wait and see, right?" he mumbled before walking away back to Connie.

I sighed and huffed. "Steven..."
