Chapter 13: Home + Peridot

     (F/n) POV

The gems, Steven and I were walking home. Well, the gems were walking, Steven and I just got tired and ended up riding in the escape pod while Amethyst pulled us with her whip.

"Ugh, my feet hurt." Steven complained. 

"Why? You're not the one who is pulling you guys and... Augh... Have been walking for over four hours." Amethyst said tiredly. "Not to mention I have to carry Peri-aaah... " Amethyst trailed off.

"What?" Steven asked.

 "Nothing." Amethyst quickly said.

"Pearl!" Steven cried. Pearl shrugged nervously. 

"Garnet?" Garnet only shook her head.

"I'll just ask Peridot." Steven huffed. "Hey Peridot?"

No answer. "Wait a second." I mumbled. I thought for a moment before I realized something. "OH MY GOSH STEVEN, WE FORGOT PERIDOT OH MY GOD, OH GOD, OH GOD, WE'RE SO SCREWED, SHE'S PROBABLY THINKING ABOUT HOW MUCH OF A CLOD WE ALL ARE!" I shrieked, shaking his shoulders harshly.

 "W-w-w-h-h-a-a-a-t-t?!" Steven gasped. 

"AHH, GUYS WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?!" he screeched, after I stopped shaking him that is. 

"Erm..." Pearl hummed, shifting uncomfortably. Amethyst sighed and turned to us.

"Chrysocolla poofed her, so..." she mumbled and brought out Peridot's gem from behind her back.

"Peridot!" I cried. 

"NOOO!" Steven hollered. 

"Gems' bodies are only illusions. Peridot will be fine." Garnet reassured.

"But still... S-she... SHE JUST WAS SO KAWAII!" I wailed. Pearl face palmed while Steven and I continued sobbing. 

~~~Timeskip to when you get back to the barn/temple~~~

"How long till Peridot poofs-out or whatever?" I mumbled, staring at the triangle shaped gem on the table.

"Reformes." Steven corrected me.

"Whatever." 

"I dunno, it's been forever." Steven sighed. 

"Hey, Pearl? How long have we been out?" I asked. 

"I don't know. Maybe two days or so." Pearl replied, walking outside to return to the barn. 

"What?! Two days?! My parents must be worried sick!" I said, running my hands through my hair.

Steven smiled at me and put a hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, (F/n). They're probably-"

Rrrrrriiiiingggg!

"I wonder who that is..." I said sarcastically and checked the caller ID on my phone. Just as I suspected. My parents.

"Hello?" I greeted coolly, trying not to sound nervous.

"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU, YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY HAS BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU!" my mother shrieked. I cringed and pulled away, rubbing my ear. 

"Mom! Relax-"

"WE CAME TO PICK YOU UP YESTERDAY AND WE COULDN'T FIND YOU ANYWHERE! THEN WE WENT TO ASK STEVEN'S FATHER IF HE KNEW WHERE YOU WERE! HE SAID HE HAD NO IDEA! WE'VE BEEN TRYING CALLING YOU FOR HOURS! YOU'RE GROUNDED, (F/N), GROUNDED! IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR STINKIN' BUTT OVER HERE RIGHT NOW, WE'RE TAKING YOUR PHONE AWAY!" 

My eyes widened. Steven looked at me sympathetically. "Y-yes, mom." I mumbled. I wasn't used to her screaming at me. She usually was really nice and gentle. 

"You have to leave?" Steven pouted. 

"You heard all that?" 

"Well, yeah, your mom screams pretty loudly." he chuckled, trying to crack a joke. 

I shrugged and giggled. "But really, already?" Steven complained. "Pff, we got captured. I guess time flies quicker when you're knocked out." 

"Well, goodbye-"

There suddenly was a loud vwoom and glowing around Peridot's gem. "It's happening!" I gasped. We both looked at Peridot with starry eyes. 

Peridot's body soon appeared in front of us, as she stood on top of the table. "Hello, Steven and (F/n)." she mumbled. 

Instead of a diamond on her V-neck (I have no idea what it's called), there was a small yellow star. "Oh, Peridot! You finally have your star!" Steven cheered happily. "Mmmm, I suppose so." Peridot smirked. 

"Why did it take you so long just for a star?" I raised an eyebrow. Peridot rolled her eyes.

"Oh my gosh, Peri! Even if you barely changed... You're cuter than ever!" I squealed. "WHY IS SHE MAKING THAT NOISE?!" Peridot hissed, covering her ears. (If she has any, lmao) 

"Oops, sorry." I laughed.

Suddenly, I heard a buzz coming from my phone. I took it out and saw a text from my mother. 

'(F/n) (L/n), you better get your ass back here or else!'

I sighed. "Steven, I gotta go."

"Aww!" Steven whined. 

"We'll see each other when I'm ungrounded. Bye, Peri." 

"Goodbye." Peridot said, staring at me with a tired face.

I smiled and waved. 

"So wait, about the training..." 

"Oh yeah! I'll talk to Pearl about it and call you later!"

"Hehe, okay. Welp, bye, Steve-mah-man." I chuckled and wrapped my arms around him in a hug. I felt Steven stiffen up, but slowly wrap his arms around me tightly, like when we first said goodbye. (Chryssi-chan: Remember the second chapter when they're saying buh-bai? Yeah, that's it) I parted from him and noticed he was blushing slightly. 

I giggled and lightly punched his shoulder. "Uh, bye, (F/n)!" he smiled, his blush cooling down. I kissed his cheek and skipped out of the room with no regrets. I even forgot about my parents, who were about to give me a tongue-lashing when I got home.

     Steven Universe POV

I touched my cheek, where (F/n) kissed me. Why do I feel so... Excited? I'll just push these feelings aside. CURSE YOU HORMONES, I'M TOO YOUNG FOR THIS. WHYYY? 

"Erm... Steven?" I heard Peridot ask. 

"Yeah?" I replied, switching my gaze to Peridot. "Why has your face turned to a different hue?" 

"Huh?" I asked, tilting my head to the side. 

"Your... Cheek." Peridot said as she poked my cheek. Only now have I realized that I've been blushing. "It has switched to a different color when (F/n) embraced you and ate your cheek." Peridot explained.

I felt my face become even redder. "AHH! IT CHANGED AGAIN!" Peridot gasped. 

I laughed a bit. "Peridot, these are just called feelings. They change when you are like embarrassed, shy, or even in love." I explained. 

"Oh. Were you em-bear-iss?" Peridot asked me. "Embarrassed. And, no..." 

"Shy?"

"No."

"In love?"

I paused for a bit. Was I? "Steven." Peridot mumbled.

"Huh?" I murmured, snapping out of my thoughts. "Your face is a different color again."

I don't really give a shit if this isn't how she gets her marking in the show. I'll just keep it this way because Rebecca Sugar keeps going on hiatus. DAMN YOUUUU-
