Chapter 25: Done With The Mission

Sorry, updates are way slower because lots of things, as I've said in the last chapter. I think. If you want though, you can read my Pearl x reader one shot... Expect slightly better grammar and a writing style. Slightly. Also, whenever I go on, I'm too lazy to read all my missed notifications XD

(F/n) POV

"It was so intense down there! We were already a few layers into the Earth's crust, WHEN SUDDENLY..." Peridot went on to tell the Crystal Gems about our adventure to the cluster.

It was honestly very tiring. I yawned. But Peridot summing up everything was pretty amusing. 

 "WA-PAMO! KA POWIE! All these gross cluster limbs started clawing at the drill. So, I whipped out the old Photon Blaster and, 'PEW PEW P-CHOW CHOW! Take that, Cluster!' And Steven was all, 'My feelings!', and then up and passes out on us?! (F/n) was like, 'STEVEN'S DEAD! OH BOO, HOO!'-"

I scrunched up my face, "What the heck Peridot-"

She ignored me, "Then, everything started glowing! And... Wait." Peridot looked over to Steven and cleared her throat, "I'm sure Steven can fill you in on the rest since he's the one who saved us. You should've seen it, right Steven? Tell 'em what happened in there!" she exclaimed.

Steven didn't respond. I poked his shoulder.

"You alright there, bud?" I asked.

"Yeah, I just... Hold on a sec, I'll be right back." Steven said standing up. We all saw him walk over to the barn. Lapis was in there. The gems looked at each other before Garnet stood up as well. She didn't say anything and went after Steven.

"Well, wasn't that dramatic?" Amethyst said casually. Pearl rolled her eyes.

"Oh, be quiet, Amethyst." Pearl scolded.

"Steven is obviously just in shock that we defeated the cluster!" Peridot stated proudly.

"...Aaaactually, I think he's just concerned for Lapis Lazuli." I said.

"No. He's so surprised that he needs time to think about it!" Peridot shot back.

"What. To be honest, I think my point makes more sense."

"OBVIOUSLY MINE DOES, YOU CLOD-"

"Cut it out, you two!" Pearl chided, obviously irritated, "you're acting like children."

"Technically (F/n) is a child." Amethyst pointed out. Pearl shot her a look and she only shrugged with a cocky smile. I chuckled.

I looked down at my phone to see my mother had texted me many texts yet again. 

'Hey, (F/n). It's been an hour. Are you almost home?'

'(F/n) please answer me. I'm getting worried.'

'(F/N) ARE YOU ALRIGHT'

'(F/N) ARE YOU THERE'

'(F/N)'

Those were only a few and I saw she left a few voicemails as well.

"Yeesh. I better get home, guys." I grimaced at my phone. I'm totally gonna be grounded. As Steven and Garnet came walking back, I said my goodbyes and left to home.

---at home---

I pushed open the door.

"Hey guys, I'm home-"

"WHERE THE HECK WERE YOU WE WERE SO WORRIED THIS IS JUST LIKE LAST TIME I SEE YOU HAVEN'T LEARNED YOUR LESSON WHAT KIND OF CHILD HAVE WE RAISED OH MY GOD ARE YOU ON DRUGS OR SOMETHING I'M TAKING YOUR PHONE AWAY ALSO WHERE IS MY PRETZEL!" my mother shrieked, leaving a ringing sound in my ears. My father just stood next to her with a disapproving look. I'll admit, I feel a bit guilty.

But then

I remembered

they're gonna take my phone away.

"WHAT? I JUST HELPED SAVED THE WORLD!" I cried. 

"Really? What were you doing this whole day, young lady?" my father scowled.

"I was hanging out at Steven's house!" I said crossing my arms. Technically, that was true.

"Why weren't you answering my texts or calls?" my mother asked suspiciously.

"I, erm, left it in Steven's room and we went out to play." I cringed. What kind of excuse is that?

"Don't you carry your phone everywhere with you? Even on the toilet?" 

"Hey! I'll have you know that-"

"(F/n), don't change the subject."

"I... Ehh..." I couldn't think of any more excuses. I'll have to tell them the truth.

"The truth is..." I saw my mother raise an eyebrow, "Steven, his alien friend, and I ventured to the center of the Earth to stop a ginormous monster from ripping the planet into pieces. We didn't destroy it though, we contained it in a bubble. Steven's guardians couldn't come with because they were stuck on an island. We had to do it alone. I couldn't answer because of everything we had to deal with. So technically, I helped save the Earth. I'm sorry for keeping this all from you." I hung my head, ready to face a bunch of angry screams.

But my father just shrugged.

"Seems legit to me." My mother nodded in agreement and they left the room.

---next day---

I sat in the kitchen in my (f/c) pajamas and a bowl of cereal in my lap.

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I set my cereal down and read the text. It was from Steven.

'Hi (F/n)! I want you to come over and meet Lapis!'
