     (F/n) POV

*le sometime later because I just can*

We were riding in the back of Mr. Universe's van. Guess what day it is...? Steven's birthday! I've known him for about like two and a half weeks now. I've grown to know him and Connie more, and I think I've developed a teeny weeny tiny little eensie weensie crush on him. Who am I kidding, I love the guy. I think he likes Connie, but I dunno what her feelings towards him are. He's always kinda blushing whenever she hugs him, I've noticed. Whoa, I sound like one of those dramatic ladies I've seen on TV. Who cares? But I don't think I should worry about anything because-

"(F/n), are you okay?" Connie asked me, interrupting me from my thoughts. "You look... Kinda sweaty?"

I switched my gaze from the salmon-pink gift wrapped present on my lap to Connie. "Hm? Oh... Yeah, I'm good!" I said and flashed her a reassuring smile.

"Okay, guys, we're almost there!" Mr. Universe called to us as the barn came into view.

"So that's the barn." I whispered to myself. It was a faded red and obviously very old.

HOOONK!  Mr. Universe honked the car very loudly and Connie immediately jumped out of the car. "Connie!" Steven gasped and grinned widely.

"Haaappy birthday!" my cousin laughed and hugged him. "Hi Steven." I giggled and gave him a quick hug as well.

"Happy b-day, dude!"

Steven laughed. "Thanks, guys. Welcome to the party. May I offer you..." He grabbed two drinks from the food table. "...A refreshment?" he asked, in a gentlemen voice.

"Thank you, kind sir." I replied, giggling in a terrible fancy lady voice and taking the drink.

"Oh Steven, how gen-tile." Connie grinned, also accepting the juice box.

"Clink!" we all said and bumped our juice boxes together.

"So, this is the barn! I'm surprised your parents are letting you guys stay for the weekend." Steven said.

"Pff, it wasn't easy. At least for Connie. My parents are not as... Ahem, firm." I chuckled.

"Yeah, seriously! They'd only let me come after equipping me with every piece of safety gear on the planet." Connie exclaimed.

"What should I do with this defibrillator!?" Greg called to Connie from the van.

"What the heck is a defib-a-what-a?" I mumbled.

"Um, we can just leave it in the car for now!" Connie yelled back.

"We'll save it for... defibri-LATER!" I shouted to Mr. Universe. I heard an, "THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL" from the van. Connie gave me a 'bruh' face, I just grinned.

Steven laughed. "Well, I'm glad you can make it." Steven smiled. "Me too." I grinned back.

"Alright, move it, guys! I was his best friend first. Happy birthday! Ooookay, shtoo-ball. Let me get a look at you." Mr. Universe exclaimed and playfully shoved Connie and I out of the way.

"Daaad..." Steven whined, embarrassed.

"Sorry, I just can't believe my little boy is growing up so quickly. Seems like just yesterday you were a baby, and now you're turning fourteen years old." Mr. Universe chuckled.

Connie spit out her juice. "Something wrong?" I asked worriedly.

"Steven! You're fourteen?!" Connie gasped.

"Yeah?" he replied, confused.

"But I'm only twelve and three quarters! You're older than me? I-I don't believe it!" she stammered, amazed.

"Hah! I'm thirteen and a half!" I laughed. (Note from Chryssi-chan: Deal with it. I don't care if you're 16, 14, or even a 40 year old gay man. I pick your age.) "I'm older than you, smol chyld!" I giggled.

"(F/n)..." Connie whined.

"Well sure, check it out." Mr. Universe said as he pulled out a scrapbook with a star under the words, 'Steven Quartz Universe'. Let's see, we have infant, baby, toddler- what's it called? -adolescent, adolescent, adolescent, adolescent... Whoa, looks like you stagnated there a little bit, buddy."

"You look the same since you were like... Nine, ten?" I commented. "In a good way."

I turned to Connie. She looked... Nervous? Concerned? Something like that.

"Mr. Universe, could I show you how the defibrillator works?" she asked. "Oh, uh, sure! Be right back, kiddos!" Mr. Universe said and left with Connie behind the van. "Hmm, I wonder what it actually is anyway." Steven mumbled after a short silence. "I mean, heck, even you don't know!"

"Dude, why would I even want to know?"

"Don't make it seem creepy." he cringed before shrugging. "I'm gonna check it out. Be right back, (N/n)!" Eheh, he called me by my nickname. I can literally feel the blood rush to my cheeks.

They sure were taking a while to come back though. I guess I'll go see what one of the gems are doing.

"Hey, Garnet." I greeted, sighing.

"Hello, (F/n)." she replied, continuing what she was doing. I sighed once again and silently watched her. Totally not creepy. "You look sad." Garnet said.

 "What?"

"You look sad. Is there something bothering you?"

I sighed. Agh, I sigh way too much. "Actually... Kind of. Do you think Steven likes Connie?" I murmured.

"As a friend, yes. But as a love interest... Probably." Blargh. "Why?" Garnet asked me.

"Can't you just use your future vision to hear my answer?" I asked hopefully, not wanting to say it. "Mmm, no."

"Why?"

"Don't want to. I want to hear it from you."

"But it would be me."

"Present you."

I sighed... Again. "Garnet... You're a fusion. A permi-fusion. You're pretty much an expert at love. Please don't tell anyone, but I like Steven. Not as a friend, but... As a crush. You said you think he likes Connie. What if Connie like's him back?! W-what if-" I paused, swallowing the spit welling up in my mouth. from frustration. "What if he doesn't like me?" I whispered quietly.

Garnet bent down to my crouching form on a bench. "(F/n), as you said, you like Steven. You care about him. What if Steven picks Connie over you? Would you be sad?"

"Well, obviously, yeah-"

"But what if Steven was sad if Connie picked somebody else?"

I paused and took a deep breath.

"I wouldn't want to see him sad..." I sighed. Again. "I would rather see him happy." I wiped my eyes and looked up at the tall fusion. I hadn't even realized the pools of liquid threatening to spill. "Come. It's cake time." she said and gestured to the barn. I followed the gem. "Thank you Garnet." I whispered.

Garnet only nodded in response.

Note from Chryssi-chan: Holy macaroni! Over 100 reads? Thank you so much, you don't know how much this means to me! Lol, since my laptop broke down, I'm at my friend's house typing this up on her laptop. The reason I need to put this episode in more than one part is because it's just too long and my elbows hurt since I'm propping myself up on the floor. Mostly the first reason though.
