Astonished that Palmer would do that to me I walk back over to McGee, Tony and Ziva. "What happened?" McGee asks.
"I don't know... He and Kyla are going to do something... He won't tell me why or what!" I say as I sit on a rock.
"We better get to work. Come on, Ash." McGee says, holding out his hand to help me up. I grab his hand and stand up.
"Call me Ash again and I smack you." I walk over to the house without even making the slight notion that I was upset.
We finished quickly and made our way back to the office. Once Gibbs tells us we can go, I know what I must do. Follow Palmer. I feel bad about it, but I also feel bad that he won't tell me about what's going on.
"Hey!" Kyla says as Palmer opens his front door.
"Hey." Palmer says flatly. At least that's good. She hugs him. Why did he let her do that? I don't know.
"You ready?"
"Sure..." The two of them walk to the car but Palmer hesitates to get in. Kyla drives off and I slowly follow behind in my car.
They pull into a restaurant parking lot and I do as well after they enter the building. I sit at a table on the opposite side of the restaurant but so I could still see them. To make sure they don't see me I'm wearing a hat and sunglasses.
I see them whispering, but I can't tell what they're saying. I lean forward and accidentally knock my glass over. I try to clean it quickly without making a scene, but it's too late.
"Do you need help?" Palmer says as he comes quickly over. I keep my head down and shake it 'no'. "Ash?" He pulls of my hat and sunglasses forcing me to look at him.
"Uh... Hi..." I say.
"You don't trust me?"
"I... I do... But..."
"But what?"
"I don't know... The way you smiled when she practically flirted with you, and now you're going somewhere with her... Jimmy, you hugged her."
"Ashton. It's not like that. She's my cousin... When we saw each other earlier we were so excited. We haven't seen each other in years. Plus I needed some girl advice."
"Your... Cousin?"
"Yes, his cousin!" Kyla exclaims.
"Oh..."
