My name is Ashton. I'm a newbie here at NCIS... About to start my first day actually! I hope it goes well... I've never really been good at the first day stuff... Well... Here it goes...
I walk into the building and immediately I'm overwhelmed by a bright orange room. There are so many people I think I might puke. You see... I don't do well with large amounts of people... The only reason I ever took this job is because I get to work with computers. They already have a tech geek, McGee is his name I believe, but they wanted another. So here I am. I walk over to the middle section where there are four desks seated at the corners.
"Hello?" a feminine voice snaps me out of my frantic thoughts. I turn to my left to see a woman with curly brown hair. By the sound of her voice I guess she is from the Middle East.
"Uh... Hi." I respond nervously, "I'm here to see agent Gibbs..."
"He is not here at the moment... Take a seat." she says. She points to a chair across the room.
"Thank you..." I reply. I walk across room and sit. The silence is threatening. Making the situation even more awkward.
"Are you our new member?" she asks.
"Yes... I'm Ashton. Ashton Hughe." I stand up, walk across the room and put my hand out for her to shake it, but she just ignores.
"Ziva David. Israeli. Former Mossad agent." she says. I was right. Israel. Middle East. We sit in silence a while longer and the elevator door opens. Out walks a man with silver gray hair. Holding a Starbucks coffee in his hand. "Ashton. Meet agent Gibbs." Agent Gibbs looks at me and nods. He sits in the biggest desk the room has.
"So. Ashton. Ready for your first day?" Gibbs asks.
"Yes, sir." I say.
"Don't call me sir." he says with a stern look. "Ziva. Where are McGee and DiNozzo?"
"Abby called them to her lab." Ziva answers.
"Get them up here." he says.
"On it boss."
"You're about to meet the team."
I look nervously at my hands. 'What if they don't like me? What if I don't fit in? What if I get killed?' Thoughts race through my mind. I watch the elevator door slide open and two very attractive men step out. They start walking towards us. This was them. My new team.
