"Mom? Dad?" I ask as my eyes start to water.
"Ashton! Are you alright?" Mom asks running over and hugging me.
"Yeah... I'm fine... Well better than others."
"What do you mean?... Oh no. Someone died in the accident didn't they?" Dad asks.
"No! He came very close though..."
"Who was it, Ash?" Mom asks.
"James Palmer... Jimmy... A very close friend..." I look at the ground and start to cry even harder.
"It'll be ok." Dad says as he gives me a hug.
"No it won't be! I lo..."
"You what?"
"I... I..."
"Come on, Ash. Tell us." Mom says.
"I love him." I look up to see their reactions. My moms eyes start to tear up and my dad closes his. They stand there in silence and look at me. Their little girl in love for the first time. "I'm sorry."
"You're sorry? Why are you sorry?" Dad asks.
"Because I didn't tell you before..."
"So... You're dating him?"
"Well... See... That's the thing... He... Uh... We..."
"They're engaged." Gibbs says as he walks around the corner. I look over to him and my eyes shine from the tears.
"You're... Engaged?" Mom asks. All I can do is shake my head, yes.
"Sorry... I kind of made my way into a family conversation."
"It's ok, Gibbs... I just have one question... How'd you hear about my being in the hospital?" I ask.
"Gibbs called us... Told us it was important and that you needed us here for you..." Dad says.
"Thank you." I look to Gibbs and he nods in acknowledgment.
"I guess it was because of your fiancé..." Mom says.
"I guess... Gibbs? Can I go see him again?"
"Yeah... I'll take the three of you down there." Gibbs says.
