A Months Notice

Chapter Seven

Jack was at his desk waiting to be called from supper .

Since there was a little fire in the kitchen they had to wait a while.

He opened up Katherine's file .

He looked at her , she was very beautiful.... He made a metal note to tell her soon .

He then saw the wedding dress photo . Dammit Jack ! Get this out of your mind ! She's 15 for Christ sake! Jack folded the photos back up and opened his desk drawer. Threw the photo in and locked it .... It was for his own good .

Jack walked down to the dining hall and saw Medda already as well as Katherine.

"How lovely for you to join us " Medda said .
"Sorry , I had paperwork . " Jack said taking a seat . He say directly across from Katherine.

The meal was simple yet delicious.
Lobster bisque with garlic bread and steamed broccoli.

Katherine ate her food quite as Medda told them that tomorrow they had to go over some wedding dentils but Jack looked at Katherine.

He was very thankful that Katherine was either looking at her food or Medda .

Jack could see the small strands of gold that weaved in her long brown hair with the subtle curl.

Or her eyes with small flecks of green in the chocolate brown pupils .

Or her nose with small freckles sprinkled across .

"So Jack is 10:30 okay ?" Medda asked .

Jack dropped his spoon in his soup causing it to spill all over Katherine.

"Oh my god ! I'm so sorry ! " Jack said standing up to hand her a napkin. But his elbow knocked a glass of water over and it fell to the floor . He noticed but as he turned his hand hit the bread basket and it flew into Meddas hair , small chunks and bits of garlic all over .

"Jack , go take Katherine to get cleaned up " Medda said waking out with an annoyed tone .

Jack got over to Katherine and he slipped on the water . "Oof " Jack said as his butt hit the damp floor .

Katherine tried very hard not to laugh but instead tried to help him up .

Jack , who was like a million times stronger than her , accidentally pulled her down and she fell to the side of him .

"Sorry about that " Jack said .
"That's alright" Katherine said .

Jack stood up to try and help Katherine up but the water got caught under his feet , which caused the both to go crashing down .

Boom !

Katherine was lying on the dining hall floor . Lobster bisque all over her dress . Garlic bread in her hair and the prince lying smack on top of her .

"Ow " Katherine said and began to blink quickly as if something was caught in her eye .

Jack took these 20 seconds to get a good long look at her . Then he realized his body weight must be crushing the poor thing .

He got off and found a dry area and helped her up . His strength caught her by surprise and she almost flew .

"Sorry about that .... Again " Jack said looking at his feet .

"It's okay , actually this is one of the best things that have happened all year !" Katherine said smiling .

"You think so ?" Jack said unsure of her answer .

"Of course! How manny times does a prince spill lobster bisque  on you and then drop water all over the ground and then garlic bread falls into the queens hair and you fall on the damp floor ! Jack this has definitely made my night !" Katherine said smiling and laughing .

"You should hear the story about my eighteenth birthday!"

"Do tell !" Katherine said smiling .

Jack smiled down and began to tell the tale .

"So it was my birthday . And my mom threw this huge ball ! Anyway the pope got drunk and my uncles did too ! Then my cake fell over because of a bunch of my younger cousins tried to get some and then .... Then mom and I walked down the stairs and ... We ate it !" Jack said as the began to walk to their rooms .

"Oh that's horrible "
"No it's funny! You can laugh at it Katherine " Jack said .

Never in her life did anyone tell her it was okay to laugh .

"So I'll see you tomorrow at 10:30 ?" Katherine asked when they got to her room .

"Yeah ... Oh wait Katherine?"

"Yes ?"

"What's at 10:30 ?"
"We need to try wedding cake " Katherine said .

"Okay c I'll see you at 10:30 ?" Jack said . "Yes . Now if you excuse me I need to take a shower ." Katherine said .

"Yeah I should get washed up too" Jack said referring to the garlic on his face .

"Have a nice night Jack " Katherine said .

Jack then bowed and grabbed her hand . He placed a gently kiss on her hand and then smiled .

"Good night Katherine "
"You too Jack " Katherine smiled and she went off to her room .
