A Months Notice

Chapter Ten

Katherine woke up .  It was time to get married .

Katherine and Jack haven't spoke , let alone seen each other since the day he kissed her cheek .

She didn't know why but she did have a few theories . But she was told my Medda, Davey , Clara and butlers told him he was busy with work .

It had been almost 12 days since she had seen him . He would take meals in his office or room .

Maybe Katherine did something to annoy him . She really hoped she didn't .

"Katherine? I know today is your wedding day and your nervous but you need to eat " Clara said as Katherine moved the spoon around in the bowl of oatmeal.

"I'm sorry Clara , I just have no appetite ...... " Katherine told her dragging the spoon across the bowl back and forth .

"Katherine, I know , it must be so hard today but you need your energy "
"I'm full "
"You've taken three bites "
"I'm full thought , can I just get dressed pleased ?"
"Okay , come sit "

Clara began to do her makeup . Then in came a lady and did her hair .

There was a photographer taking photos of her shoes and accessories.

After about three hours she was done . "Okay , we need to get your dress -"
"But I haven't picked one -"
"Medda did " Clara said .

Katherine was alone in my room . She had on a pair of tights , corset , bra and underwear covered with her robe covering it .
She sat on her bed and brought her foot to chest .

Her feet were covered with the fabric of her tights . She had moved her toes . She was scared . She haven't seen Jack in two weeks and now they were getting married .

"Katherine?" Clara said coming in . There was a huge dress . It looked heavy .
Clara then tightened her corset and had Katherine slip in .

This dress was tight yet so beautiful. It was a lot lighter than it seemed . There was a hoop for it as well . Clara then took a blood red ribbon and wrapped it around Katherine's waist . Katherine's sleeves went to her hands and wrapped around her middle finger .

Clara then went on her knees and crawled under to put Katherine's shoes on . Red and white .... Katherine began to suspect a theme .

Katherine them out on her cross and crown.... Soon she would have a new one .....

Clara stood on her toes and put the long veil in her hair .

"You're ready " Clara said
"Oh "
"You're father's down stairs ..... There all waiting in the room . I believe Jack is about to walk down the aisle !" Clara said .

Katherine walked down to her father .

"Look at you " Joseph said
"Hello father "
"You look so beautiful dear "
"Thank you "
"Are you ready ?"
"Yes " NO !

Her father put part of the veil over her face . She could feel tears begin to stream down as the gigantic doors opened.

The music began and they walked .

Katherine had tears on her cheeks and she was very thankful that she didn't have to have her veil off till the very end .

She felt like she walking for eternity. There where many oohs and ahhs .

"Who gives this women to his man ?"
Katherine shook her thought she was already here ?

Katherine's father took her hand and placed it in jacks.

She hadn't seen Jack since that kiss on the cheek ..... And she couldn't really see him through the veil .

"Katherine-"
"I do " then she felt her crown being taken off her head and a new weight on it .
She heard an "I do " in jacks voice .

"I know pronounce you husband and wife..... You may kiss the bride "

Jack took off her veil . He could see the small tears in her eyes . Katherine noticed a new crown on his head . Jack cupped her waist and pulled her to him .

His hand pushed away a strand of her hair and he placed his lips on hers .

Katherine closed her eyes because she couldn't bare to see anything . She was so hurt and so upset .

Jack pulled her veil back down , thank god it was a New York Tradition.

They walked away from the alter and people cheered and yelled . Rice was thrown and then guest went to the grand ballroom to the reception.

Jack and Katherine were given 15 minutes in the tea room to freshen up before the wedding .

"You look stunning " Jack said
"Thank you " Katherine answered back .
"I understand that is this scary .... And I know .... Well ..... Your 15-"
"It's not because I'm 15"
"You cut me off ?"
"I'm sorry " Katherine said looking back down to her feet .
"Don't , don't be sorry . I should I shouldn't have said that ...."
"Well it's not because I'm 15... It's because I feel like I'm not human being ."
"I feel the same way"
"How ? You didn't get thrown to some stranger !" Katherine said in the edge of tears
"Parliament told me that if I didn't marry I would never get to be king .."
"So you married me to be king ?"
Katherine asked .

Jack looked at her . Her eyes where big and doe like with water near the edges . "Yes .... I'm sorry" he said .

"I understand .... It's your duty "
"It is "

"Katherine?" Jack asked .
"Hmmm ?" Katherine said moving a tissue across her face to wipe a tear .

"Would you rather marry that 41 year old king?" Jack asked
Katherine smiled sadly "no , you're much better "
"Oh , "
"I mean you're not a horrible drunk with health issues " Katherine said .
Jack smiled .

"Now Jack can I ask you a question ?"
"Yeah ?"
"Why haven't I seen you in almost two weeks ?"
"I had a lot of work "
"That's what everyone told me ..... Why though ? "
"I had this huge rush of guilt over me because I knew you had a boyfriend and you left him because you had to and not that you wanted too ...."
"Oh "
"And I thought maybe .... Maybe .... Maybe something would I don't know happen "
"Like ?"
"I don't know . I was hoping for some type of miracle "
"We all were "

"Well Jack we better get going "
