A Months Notice

Chapter Forty-Five

Katherine woke up around 6:30 and Jack was already gone .

As usual she found a note on her bedstand.

Good morning Katherine,

I have to be with Parliament all morning.... Hopefully we'll be soon . I know this is the eighth day I've been gone while you wake up ... I promise I'll try and be here more often... It's just that there's so many things we need to do ... I'm sorry

"Again ? He isn't here again ! Ugh ! This is just stupid ! I'm getting sick of it !" Katherine said aloud to herself.

She got dressed and all . Katherine then walked to jacks office . If he wasn't in there she could always wait for him and sneak a peak at his sketches which he always said "weren't done "

Katherine opened the cherry wood door and walked in . Jack wasn't there. She poked around to see if she could find his sketch book .

"They're not done yet " Jack said when Katherine opened the drawer were the sketch books where .

"You say that every time " Katherine smirked and opened the book .

Jack ran to her . "They're beautiful " Katherine said as she flipped the pages .

"But they're not done "

"I think they are " Katherine smiled at Jack . Jack sighed and lifted Katherine off his chair , he sat down then had her sit on his lap .

"Why do you think so?"

"I just do ... They're beautiful... They're perfect to me " Katherine smiled at Jack .

"No they're aren't "Jack said .

"So do you just draw during parliament meetings ?" Katherine asked him .

"Usually ...."

"That explains this country "

"Hey !-"

"I'm joking " Katherine said and kissed his cheek . Jack put his hand on Katherine's stomach .

"I'm sorry I can't get you pregnant "
Jack signed

"Jack .... It's not your fault ... I don't wanna talk about it ... Because I know I'll get worked up and all upset"
Katherine told him .

"Okay .... I can live with that "Jack said

"So .... What are we doing for your birthday?" Katherine asked

"What ?"

"It's this week .... What are we doing ?" Katherine asked

"I don't know .... I kinda don't care .... My birthday has never been a big deal to me "

"But -"

"It's fine .... I'm okay with just a nice dinner " Jack said . Katherine smiled and then Jack got a call .

"Hello ? Oh .... Okay .... I'll be right there " Jack said .

"You've gotta go ? "

"I'm sorry babe "

"It's okay .... I'll see you soon right ?"

"Right ... Bye Katherine "

"Medda ! I have the perfect idea for jacks 26th birthday party ! I say we throw him a huge party !"

"That sounds marvelous Katherine!"

That Saturday Night ;

Katherine got dressed in a beautiful dark blue dress that was jacks favorite and got all his friends and family there . She put on her sapphire crown and smiled .

"Jack you should go to the ballroom -"

"I'm busy Davey !"

"Come on ! They did this new thing with the windows and they need your approval !"

"Can't Katherine approve !"

"She's busy ! Come on !"

"Fine ...." Jack said they walked to the ballroom . Jack opened the door

"SURPRISE!" Everyone shouted .

Katherine walked to him "happy birthday love" Katherine said as she hugged him .

"You did all this ?" Jack asked

"Yes .... Everyone showed up on short notice say thank you "

"THANK YOU " Jack shouted to everyone .

"You don't like it ..." Katherine sighed and smiled as she walked off .

"No ... I do it's just I wish you told me because-"

"Because you have work "

"I'm sorry Katherine "

"Jack can I speak with you in private?" Katherine asked Jack nodded and they walked off to a private room .

"You can't even stop working for two hours on a Saturday! Or on your birthday ! Just to spend time with your family and friends !"

"Katherine some one needs to run the country !"

"I understand that but that's why you have advisors and parliament! Jack .... I planned this party last minute because you said nothing was every done for your birthday! But Jack trust me you would enjoy the party so much if you would just show up ! Dammit Jack ! I'm sick of you not being here !"

"Katherine quite acting like a child !"

"A child ! I'm acting like a child?! No I'm acting like a wife who doesn't see her husband enough and is trying to get pregnant in hopes of having a baby so her husband would pay attention to her ."

"I do !"

"You aren't there when I wake up ! You aren't there for breakfast or lunch or dinner ! You aren't there when I go to sleep ! I barely see you ! How are we suppose to have a normal healthy loving relationship if your never here ?"

"Katherine I have stuff to do ! I need to run the county so people don't invalid and you die ! "

"Jack that is so stupid ! You don't have to stay at your party but at least say hello to your family who came from all around the world ! You stupid son of a bitch !" Katherine yelled at him

"You stop right there ! First of I am not a stupid son of a bitch ! Your acting so bitchy ! Your a fucking 15 year old who doesn't know when it's time to throw a temper tantrum! Fuck off Katherine !"

"Fine !" Katherine yelled and went back off to party . Jack sighed and ran his hand over his face .
